Raumati South School PTA Newsletter - May 2017

Its May already and the 2017 Raumati South School PTA are well on the way to organising a number of great fundraisers and events including bringing world renowned hypnotist Andrew Newton to Kapiti, marketing the great value Entertainment Books, preparing for the kids to get arty for the Abacus Calendars & Diary’s, getting our groove on for the Term 2 & 4 school discos and planning the Halloween Gala!

2017 PTA CommitteeIts always great to have new committee members bringing new ideas and this year we’ve got a great mix of new and established members:Pete Mallalieu (Chairperson), Annette Connolly (Treasurer), Rob Klaassen (Deputy Treasurer), Tracey O’Conner (Secretary & Communications), Graham McDonald, Renata Spies, Nicola Fisher, Jo Hart, Helen Drew-McCulloch & Katie Owen

A big thank you outgoing committee members Amanda Harris and Emma Bone for their contributions. Emma also resigned as Treasurer having held the position for the last few years.

Healthy Lunch UpdateWe’re still on the lookout for a Healthy Lunch Coordinator to enable us to get the food back on the plates. This is a PTA funded position for 6-8 hours per week and involves working with a team of volunteers to plan and prepare healthy weekly meals for up to 100 kids. If you have a passion for healthy food and are interested in the role, or know someone who might be, please contact the school office.

Also, thanks to Nicola Fisher of Bayleys, we have new sun umbrellas for the pool area – roll on term 4!

As a result of the 2016 Halloween gala fundraiser we’re in the process of assessing quotes for a set of chrome books and will have these in circulation shortly. We’re also progressing the top field development with the wire fence removal having been undertaken through the holidays to allow for this and are looking forward to helping the school progress the bike track around the farm this year.

Andrew Newton Hypnotist – a hilarious night out for all ages!On May 19 we’re proud to be bringing world renowned hypnotist Andrew Newton to the Kapiti Coast.This is a fantastically funny show and a great night out with a group of friends.Tickets are $20 each and the school gets $10 for every ticket sold so it’s a fantastic fundraiser for us with a target to sell 300 tickets to enable us to get a jungle gym installed next to the climbing frame on the top field.

Entertainment for the kidsWe’re selling entertainment books again this year and at only $65 it takes no time at all to cover the cost and start saving with more on offer than ever!$13 from each book goes to our fundraising and this year we’re putting the funds towards playground equipment.
