What Has Been Your Tomb?

Jesus’ tomb was one that transcended death and transformed the cares and ugliness of this world into a place of joy, peace, and glory! The cares of life can at times “bury us alive” and we are like “dead men (or women) walking”. But praise has the power to resurrect what SEEMS dead and can SHAKE the foundation of our very existence and those around us!!!! (See Paul and Silas’story)

We must trust God at His Word no matter what it looks like!

Matthew 28:5 - 75 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

Where there had been great sorrow and death, is now a place of praise AND worship!

Matthew 28:8-9

8 And they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word.

9 And behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and took hold of his feet, and worshipped him.

What is Praise?

“Praise, in the original Greek, means to sing, to tell of, to give, or to confess.” In other words, praise refers to being thankful for God’s blessings, and it means to announce this good news to God and to others.

At its core, praise is an outward expression to God and to others to let them know about His goodness. Authentic praise comes from deep in the heart, does not have to be accompanied by music. The result is that others see God working in us.

According to Strong’s Concordance:

Resurrection Power - The Bones of Elisha 2 Kings 13:20-21

20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

The Resurrection Power of Our Praise

How does God respond to this type of praise?

Page 14: Rattling the Dry Bones - waltenapride.weebly.com

Praise has the capability to change both the physical and spiritual environment! It shifts both you and all that is around you. Why? How? Psalm 22:3 says “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”

God inhabits the praises of His people and with Him onboard what could possibly stand as an obstacle or hindrance to you becoming free or rather exercising the liberty that God through Jesus Christ has already accomplished for each of us!

PRAISE CAN SHAKE THINGS UP FOR EVERYONE!!!!Acts 16:25-26

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

Ezekiel 37:1 and 7 (ESV)

1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones.

7 So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.

Page 17: Rattling the Dry Bones - waltenapride.weebly.com

11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.

In what things or ways am I flourishing?

We were made to flourish!

(of a person, animal, or other living organism) grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment

Psalm 92:13 KJV13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Page 19: Rattling the Dry Bones - waltenapride.weebly.com

But be careful,

looks can be deceiving!

What things have I let die in my life?

Page 20: Rattling the Dry Bones - waltenapride.weebly.com

Take a closer look!In the midst of death, there is yet life on display! How many of us know that God is “displaying us” in the midst of what we may see or what may feel like a moment of death? (disappointments, despair, the decline and withering away of our hearts toward God or toward the things of God. We are living epistles read of men! So from just a small sign of life….

Page 21: Rattling the Dry Bones - waltenapride.weebly.com

God can restore and bring forth new life!Flourish - an instance of suddenly performing or developing in an impressively successful way:

increase, multiply, proliferate, spring up, shoot up, bloom, blossom, bear fruit, burst

forth, run riot, put on a spurt, boom, mushroom

Page 22: Rattling the Dry Bones - waltenapride.weebly.com

Psalm 92:14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

Isaiah 66:13-1413 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the Lord shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.
