IntroductionOver the years Ranpak has become more than just a supplier of packaging systems. One of the key elements of the success story of Ranpak is its flexibility in integrating converters in new or existing packaging environments.

To make integrations easier available we have put them in a small booklet. Many of the integrations that are built over the last years are quite similar to each other.

In the past all integrations had to be requested internally by Ranpak’s sales representatives. Since this whole request process is time consuming, as various departments are involved in such a procedure, we decided to make it simpler as faster.

This booklet allows you to order a specific integration directly from the book. There is flexibility, in the dimensions of the integrations. Please note the order info part, to be sure that the correct dimensions are taken for the integration.

Nevertheless it still can be that the specific integration needed does not fit in the flexible dimensions in this booklet. In such a situation the Ranpak sales person has to make a specific request for this exceptional case.

Still, this booklet should cover the most common integrations for the Ranpak converters. This makes life easier, as you know in advance what a specific integration is going to cost and what you are going to get for it!

Process

Integrations in this booklet can be ordered directly from the book. Every integration has its own order number and specific name.

To order an integration simply send in an order to Ranpak’s Sales Support department. Please make sure that the order contains all the info that is needed for the specific integration. What is needed is described exactly for each integration.

You will receive an order confirmation that states the specific pick up date for the integration. Integrations should always be picked up from Heerlen.

Please note that all integrations are ex works. If an integration should be send directly to a customer please inform our Sales Support Department by stating this in the order. We will communicate the shipment cost and we will send a bill for this.

In some cases we strongly recommend a Ranpak technician to install the integration. The installation costs will be billed separately and heavily depends on where the integration geographically should be installed. Each integration has an icon that shows the difficulty level of installing an integration.

All our integrations run on regular paper that is meant for the type of machine.

Ordering integrations This booklet makes ordering integrations easy. All integrations that are not in this booklet should be ordered via the “normal” way.

Lead time

The lead time for integrations from this booklet is typical 6 to 8 weeks. Please note that this lead time starts from the moment that an order (filled out completely) is received at out inner sales department.

After 48h you will receive the order confirmation. This confirmation also states the date the integration is ready to be picked up.

Installment

Installing integrations might require support from Ranpak. Each integration shows an icon with the difficulty level of installing the integration:

Easy to install by anyone Requires technical support from an end user itself or from the distributor Requires Ranpak assistance

The cost of installment by Ranpak is not included in the integration cost and depends on the complexity of the integration and where it should be installed geographically.

Definitions

• Integrations are to be picked up from Heerlen

• The cost of integrations in the booklet is ex-works;

• Next to the cost of the integration, there is always a User Fee on the converters that are used in the integration;

• Integrations can use exactly same paper types that are meant for the standard machines. Please note, if another type of paper as advised, is used on an integration there is no service available from the side of Ranpak.

1.1 PadPak Senior® - pack station

The PadPak® Pack station combines the versatile PadPak® Senior machine with a full size packing bench. This pack station is a complete stand alone solution. It can be kept simple, just as a table, but if desired the table can be equipped with a carton holder and/or a shelf to put your packaging materials on. The machine can be pulled from underneath the table to load.

The paper packaging pads can be taken from one side of the table. Usually a packer uses fix pad lengths with a packing table. This table can automatically produce a pad and as soon as the packer takes a pad from the table, the next pad is produced. If longer pads are needed, hold down the foot pedal to overrule the fix lengths.

1.3 PadPak senior® - under existing tableThis solution is meant for companies that already use packing tables. This PadPak® machine allows you to upgrade your table to a version with a built in packaging machine. This of course will not only save you a lot of space, there are also no bins with packaging material hanging around your pack table.

This solution comes with a guiding rail that has to be mounted to the bottom of the tabletop of your table. Please note that it is necessary to make a hole in the table in order to dispense the pads.

The machine can be pulled from under the table to load, either from the left or from the right side, so please specify this.

1.4 PadPak senior® - at existing tableSometimes it is not possible to place a packaging machine under a table. This solution makes it possible to have pads available at the table on demand, without taking too much space.

The machine comes with a 3 roller cart, an end of paper detection and a gluing option. This makes it possible to load the machine fast and easy. On top of that there are three rolls directly available at the machine. To refill a cart, roll it to the pallet with paper rolls and hang in three new rolls.

The machine is quite high, so please assure that you have enough space for it.

2.1 PadPak senior C-standThis special solution uses a horizontal PadPak® Senior machine. A machine like this can also be used to reach over a double or triple conveyor. A C-stand allows the packer to easily access the pads and therefore work fast with it.

3.1 PadPak senior® - PaL

The PAL system allows you to always have the exact specified way of packing for a specific product. It combines pre-programmed packaging solutions with the PadPak® Senior machine. All products to be packed and the step by step pictured ways of packing need to be fed into a computer.

When a specific product needs to be packed, the operator chooses the product from the database (or scans the barcode of the product) and the step by step instruction pops up. Per packaging step the PadPak® machine produces the correct number of pads with the correct length and the display shows how to fold and use the pads.

This system makes sure that all products are packed in the same, secure way.

Please note that the PAL system requires a computer with the following specs:• PC or Laptop capable of running Windows XP or Windows Vista• Display resolution 1024x768 or higher• 1x Serial port (or USB to Serial converter with one extra free USB port)• 1x free powered USB 1.1 or 2.0 port• 1x Serial cable with 2x 9 pole female connector• Installed Microsoft ODBC drivers and Microsoft Access

6.1 PadPak LC - side loading A side loading solution is used for converters that are placed up in the air. This can be placed over a conveyor line or over a packing table.

The machine comes with a cart for 5 packs of paper and an end of paper detection. This makes it possible to load the machine fast and easy. On top of that there are five packs directly available at the machine. To refill a cart, roll the cart to the pallet with paper packs and tape the five packs together. The packs have a self adhesive strip to make taping easy.

7.1 PadPak Compact® - table top

The PadPak CC Table top combines the small PadPak CC machine with a mini packing bench in one. The table is kept simple and small. It is only 1m by 60cm and it is movable, because it is on wheels. To load paper in the machine, the table top has to be lifted up.

7.2 PadPak Compact® - at existing table

This solution uses a PadPak CC® machine that is mounted upright. Therefore the paper is dispensed upwards directly in the direction of the packer. Ideal if there is no space under the table, but where it makes sense to have paper directly available at the table.

The machine has wheels so therefore it can be moved around.

This space saving solution can be used for rolls and for packs of paper.

8.1 PadPak Compact - under existing table or conveyor If there is space under a conveyor line or table, this solution can come in handy. The idea is as simple as effective. The outlet of the small machine just peaks out from under a conveyor or table. So if the machine is set to a fixed length, there is always a pad available for the packer. It does not take any effective workspace and therefore it is quite a smart solution.

The small machine is on wheels, so to load the paper pull it out from under the table or conveyor and refill it.

The enormous speed of a FillPak machine in combination with paper that is folded can be a bit noisy. In situations where the surrounding noise is low, the noise that FillPak machine makes can be reduced.

A combination of having the “boxed in” the machine and the interior of the FillPak machine covered with noise reduction foam, results in a machine that reduces the noise by 10%!

11.1 FillPak TT™ - single swivel arm

It is possible to equip the FillPak TT and the FillPak TT Cutter with a single or double swivel arm. This way the small paper dispenser can be pulled to the boxes. This way the outlet of the machine can be placed exactly above the boxes.

The paper itself shoots in the box by pushing the foot pedal. The only thing the packer needs to do is to guide the paper in the box.

11.2 FillPak TT™ - double swivel arm

It is possible to equip the FillPak TT and the FillPak TT Cutter with a single or double swivel arm. This way the small paper dispenser can be pulled to the boxes. This way the outlet of the machine can be placed exactly above the boxes.

The paper itself shoots in the box by pushing the foot pedal. The only thing the packer needs to do is to guide the paper in the box.

The enormous speed of a FillPak TT machine in combination with paper that is folded can a bit noisy. In situations where the surrounding noise is low, the noise that FillPak TT machine makes can be reduced.

12.1 accuFill® – automated system

This (semi) automated system that we call the AccuFill could be the fastest packaging system yet available in the market. The system combines automated void detection with accurate paper dispensing.

The whole system should be integrated in a conveyor system with control unit, in order to separate boxes and to get moving through the system in the most optimal way. The boxes appear automatically in front of the packer and the system can automatically dispense the exact amount of material that is needed for the void to be filled.

To make the AccuFill system communicate with the conveyor system it is crucial to do this together with the supplier of the conveyor system.

The system can handle, depending on the box sizes and filling degree, up to 12 boxes per minute.
