Cruz an All-StarCruz an All-Star Right fielder Nelson Cruz was added to the American League All-Star roster late Friday as a replacement for injured Angels outfielder Torii Hunter. With career highs in home runs (22) and RBI (53), Cruz will join teammates Josh Hamilton and Michael Young at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Tuesday for his first All-Star Game.

A first-time All-Star, Nelson Cruz will also compete in the State Farm Home Run Derby Monday night.

After hitting just three home runs in 209 at-bats for the Dodgers last year, designated hitter Andruw Jones hit three in one game against the Angels Wednesday night. The Rangers’ 8-1 win gave them sole possession of first place in the American League West.

Jones’ three-home run performance Wednesday was the first for the Rangers since Brad Wilkerson hit three – also against the Angels – on July 3, 2007 in Arlington. It was Jones’ second career three-home run game.
