These are the things you can install into

a laptop:

- RAM Random Access Memory

- Optical Drive

- Screen

- Bluetooth

- Wireless card

- Hard drive/ SSD

Laptop aren’t really customizable because they don’t

allow you to Install that much hardware. It gets quite

difficult when installing hardware into a laptop.

Upgrading hardware in a laptop!

Installing New components

into a Desktop Computer!

These are things you are able to install into

desktop pc:

- Hard drive/ SSD

- RAM Random Access Memory

- Graphics Card

- Heat sink

- CD Drive/ Blu-ray Drive

- PSU Power Supply Unit.

A desktop is the most customizable out of a laptop. In a

desktop you can change and upgrading pretty much

everything. Installing new hardware is quite easy and

straight forward.

The reason why we install new hardware is to keep the computer up to date and that we are able

to update our software to the latest software. It is a good thing to install new hardware because it

will then allow us to update our drivers. It would also make the computer much more faster than

before.

When I say maintaining hardware, I mean by keeping all your components and peripherals

clean and making sure that they are clean and running smoothly. The reason why you

maintain hardware is to make sure that every component in the computer is running to the

best it can be.

WHY WE MAINTAIN HARDWARE IN BOTH

SYSTEMS?

We maintain our hardware in both systems, because it is important to make sure that

everything is in standing order and nothing is out of place. If you see something dodgy and its not right you can change it there and then so you want need to worry

about making it even worse or better still Not finding out about it and it completely

recking the hole system.

BENEFITS OF MAINTAINING HARDWARE

IN A DESKTOP.

Saves Money

When maintaining hardware your saving money as well. For example if you clean

you heat sink in your desktop and get all the dust out of it will make sure that it is

running smoothly and that you want need to replace it in a couple of weeks.

There's nothing worst then not cleaning your components and then later down the

line have a massive bill to replace the components what don’t work.

Keeps CleanWhen cleaning your computer and its components you are increasing how long it will last.

By cleaning you components you will ensure that every part works proper and if it doesn’t

you can then go down the line of replacing that part.

Preventing FaultsWhen you are inspecting your computer parts you are checking what works and what

doesn’t. This is a good thing to do so that your can make sure your computer lasts longer.

Prevents overheating. This is a big problem in desktop pcs. For example your heat sink can be flooded with dust

and therefore would not be able to maintain and keep all the other components cleans

and keeping them at the right temperature.

Reduces Downtime. When maintaining a computer you are reducing the downtime of the whole computer.

This means that if something isn’t working. For example if the computer wouldn’t turn on

this would mean it is down. The way to prevent this is by maintaining your computer and

making sure everything is in good standard order.

BENEFITS OF INSTALLING/UPGRADING

HARDWARE IN A DESKTOP.

Increases The performance

When you are installing new hardware into a computer you are increasing your

overall performance of the whole computer. This would mean that, When you

are replacing all your old components with new parts. This will increase the

overall life span of the whole computer.

You wont need to upgrade for a long time.If you upgrade you components now you wont have to do it in a couple of

months/Years.

Improved specifications

When you upgrade your components you will gain better specifications which

means you will be able to do much more with your system and wont need to

worry about it lagging.

Latest Software

When upgrading components you then will be able to access and update your software to

the latest software.

Extra Features.

When upgrading or installing new hardware, You gain new features, Say for example you

upgrade your graphics card, You will gain better specs and you may even gain some software

which is an add on to your original graphics card

BENEFITS OF MAINTAINING HARDWARE

IN A SMART PHONE.

SAVES STORAGE SPACE.

Every month try to have a sort out of all your Documents, Photos and Apps to

keep on top of the storage capacity of the phone.

DON’T CHARGE IT TO OFTEN!.

If you charge your phone to often when it doesn’t have to be charged it could

start reducing the life of the battery!

HAVE BACK-UPS!Back up your phone regularly you don’t know when you phone will mess up, So

its always a plus side to backing up!

BENEFITS OF INSTALLING NEW

SOFTWARE IN A SMART PHONE.

Latest Software

Extra Features.

When you do system updates for your phone you gain the latest software,

So say for example IOS 8.3, Now that you have updated your phone you

can connect your phone to the apple watch which also means you get

extra features

When you have done a full system update you are gaining extra and

better features. This allows you to be able to keep up to date and get the

latest apps. For example a new update has come out for the iPhone

which allows your o connect to and apple watch through your phone!

Increases The performance When updating your software on your phone are then making sure that your

phone is working properly and speeds up the whole of your phone so there

is not lagging.

HOW INSTALLING AND MAINTAINING HARDWARE FOR

ONE TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM COULD IMPACT AN

INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANISATION?

GOOD POINTS

When the Company/Organization has finished upgrading and transferring all the components and

have finished updating the computers it will automatically speed up the overall process of completeing

tasks quickly to still a good standard!

When the technicians have finished updating everything , Once everything is sorted the users will start

to notice that they will be gaining new features which will then lead to being able to do more thing

which will increase the quality of the work

How the company looks to others -Basically if the company has the latest hardware and technology

systems it will set a good image to the customers and other people linked to the company

When the computer has been fully upgraded to the latest hardware and software it will decrease the

downtime of the overall computer which means it will last longer!

BAD POINTS!

- Its costs will cost the company a lot of money to upgrade all the computer

- Because the users have got used to the old pieces of software, They might start to struggle getting

used to the new pieces of software which might take time.

- The overall process will be Time consuming because It will take some time to swap over the

hardware and it might take even longer to update all the software as well as making sure

everything is running properly

- When upgrading the computer components the technicians need to make sure that all the

components are compatible because if they are not and they try to fit them into the system they

could wreck the hole system in one!

THE GIVEN SYSTEM.

The Specifications are:

- CPU – AMD 6 Core FX6350 3.9GHz

- RAM – 1GB DDR2 800

- Motherboard – Mini ATX AS Rock 960GC-GS

- Hard Drive 80GB SATA

- DVD Drive Standard DVD RW

- Graphics on board shared Ram

- Sound On board

- LAN – On board

- Keyboard

- Mouse

- 17” TFT monitor

- Windows 7

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESS FOR THE GIVEN

SYSTEM.Strengths:

It can include 16GB of DDR3 or 8GB of DDR2 , This good because there is room for improvement and

will be able to processor things a lot quicker.

The motherboard has got 4 USB ports so this is an advantage to the user because they can install up

to four peripherals

The on-board graphics card is decent and will cope with what the client wants and will use it for

I would say that it will be quick because of the six core processor

It will all fit in the case perfectly because the motherboard is the smallest you can get. Mini ATX

Its got a DVD Drive so it will allow you to be able to install the operating system on.

Weakness:

This motherboard only supports vga, So if the user was thinking about having a HD view on the

monitor, Then they wont be able to do this because it doesn’t support HDMI or DVI.

It could be quite slow because it only has 1GB pre-installed, This is going to be make the computer

run slower than normal because the graphics card I sharing off the ram and the minimum the

graphics shares is 512mb

The hard drive will get filled up quickly because the operating system take up like 25GB of you hard

drive.
