Raising Awareness on the use of legal and certified timber at the Paris-Belleville School of Architecture

The first conference for raising awareness amongst architecture students on the use of legal and certified timber took place on Monday 22nd November 2010 at the National Superior School of Architecture (ENSA) of Paris-Belleville. Emmanuelle Grundmann, primatologist and reporter, presented the major issues surrounding the certification of forests and the impact of deforestation on the population that live in them, as well as on the flora and fauna of these regions.

This initiative, launched on 28th September 2010 by Jacques Chirac and Frédéric Mitterand, Minister of Culture and Communication, sponsored by the architect Jean Nouvel, aims to raise awareness amongst future architects on the sustainable management of forests, through conferences organised at fifteen out of twenty ENSA.
