Did you know that there is a place that takes up 6% of the world, but has half of the worlds plants and animals. Do you know what place that is? It’s the rainforest. There are 4 things that all rain forests have in common. The first thing they have in common is they all are very

humid. The second thing they have in common is that all rainforest is that they all have one season. The third way is that they all are really hot. The last way is they all get a lot of rain.

Did you know that the rainforest is divided into 4 layers. the first layer is the forest floor. The forest floor is damp it also has a lot of decay-ing leaves. not very many animals live on the forest floor. But some do for example snakes frogs and jaguars live on the forest floor. The

There are four layers of rainfor-est.

next layer of the rain forest is the under story. The un-der story has little trees that could end up being a can-opy or emergent tree. Above the under story is the canopy. The canopy is the layer with the most ani-mals. It is the place that has all the vines and most of the animals in the rainforest! The layer that is up the highest emergent the emergent is home to many rain-forest birds and is the layer with the tallest trees.

There are lots of beautiful plants in the rainforest so am going to tell about you my favorite plants of the rainforest. The first plant is the giant raffle-sia (ruhh-flee-zee-uh) the giant rafflesia is the largest flower in the world. It blooms on the for-est floor but most of it is hidden underground. but the giant rafflesia stinks. It smells like rotten meat. The second plant I want you to learn

about is the tropical pitcher plant. This plant is one of the coolest plant in the rainforest at least thats what I think. It has a sent that attracts bugs to it. When bugs land on it the bugs slip and fall in one of the pitch-ers and the bug eats it.

The rainforest has half of the worlds animals. So I going to tell you about a couple of the animals. The first animal i,m going to tell you about is the sloth.The sloth is the slowest mov-ing animal on the planet. It would take a sloth over a hour to cross a average size living

room. Sloths claws may look scary but they don,t use them to attack they use them to hang on to the trees. The next animal that i,m going to tell you about is the poison arrow frog. The poison arrow frog is tiny but deadly! The poison arrow frog has enough poison to kill 100 peo-ple! It has bright colors to warn off enemy and tells them there poison could kill them.

Thousands of people live in the in the rainfor-est. There are 2 ways of living in the rainfor-est. one of the ways that you could be a hunter-gathers. The mbuti tribe are hunter-gathers. They make little huts to live in. The mbuti tribe move every week. The woman and

children make the the houses well the men hunt for food. The mbuti people are very small and make clothing by gathering bark. soften it in water. and painting beautiful pic-tures on it. The second way you can live in the rainforest id you can be a hunter gardeners. Some people people that live in the rainforest get there food by raising crops hunting and gathering food. people in the rainforest that do that are called the yanomami (ya-nuh-mah-mee). the yanomami boys learend to hunt at a very young age.The yanomami peo-ple grow bananas, yams, sweet po-tatoes, and plantains which are large though bananas and boil them.

Do you know how many things we get from the rainforest. well we get a lot of things like gum, chocolate, wood, paper, coffee, a medi-cine for cancer, rubber and bananas. Well if we didn’t have the rainforest we would’ent have that stuff. All that stuff is very important

and it would be hard to live without them. And the rainforest helps stop global warming. The trees suck up the carbon dioxide. And makes sure there isn’t to much carbon dioxide in the air.
