HARPER’S BAZAAR SINGAPORE AND ASIA NEWGEN FASHION AWARDS 2018 Raffles Fashion Designer Andrew LOW represented Singapore and won the Harper’s BAZAAR Asia NewGen Fashion Award 2018. Harper’s BAZAAR Asia NewGen Fashion Award has been a platform to discover and nurture emerging talents from the four regions – Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand – giving them the opportunity of a lifetime. He joins an illustrious list of past country and regional award winners from Raffles, like Harvee KOK, William UTAMA, Sean LOH, and Sheila Agatha WIJAYA, to win this prestigious competition. Andrew LOW will be showcasing his graduation collection on the 13 th December Fashion Show at Fairmont Singapore.

2. 33RD ASEAN SUMMIT LEADER’S SPOUSES PROGRAMME Raffles Singapore collaborated with N J Bhagwan & Co Pte Ltd to incorporate Sophie Hallette tulle and laces in the graduation collections of Raffles Fashion Designers CHEN Yiling, Renee DE GUZMAN, and Vivien VERONICA, at the inaugural Sophie Hallette Design Challenge Asia 2018. Each designer used a varied selection of Sophie Hallette laces in their respective collections catering to women with an artistic flair, or who are edgy and sophisticated, or simply elegant and classy. With Singapore hosting the 33rd ASEAN Summit, Raffles Singapore is honoured to be THE only private design institution invited to the official Spouse Programme hosted by Mrs LEE Hsien Loong, Ms SIM Ann, and Mrs Joy BALAKRISHNAN, and Raffles Fashion Designers Renee’s and Vivien’s collections were presented to the esteemed guests from ASEAN and beyond: Ms Tran Nguyet Thu (Vietnam), Mrs Naly Sisoulith (Lao PDR), Mrs Naraporn Chan-O-Cha (Thailand), Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Binti Mohd Ali (Malaysia), Mdm Iriana Joko Widodo (Indonesia), Mrs Karen Pence (USA), Mdm Kim Jung-Sook (Republic of Korea), and Mrs Akie Abe (Japan). 3. FLIGHT TO THE FANTASTICO “Flight to The Fantástico” was a collaboration between Raffles Singapore and Paragon Shopping Centre to celebrate the bilateral ties of Singapore and Latin America. The celebration was officiated by Singapore Minister of State, Mr Sam TAN, together with participating countries' Ambassadors and guests, on 7 September 2018. Raffles Jewellery Designers, CHEN Zi Nan, HUANG Kai Lin, Joceline GRETA, MA Bao Yi, MIFUYU Fukai, SHEN Yan Xin, LI Mu Han, YU Jia Yin, ZENG Di Kai, ZHAO Qiu Yi, ZHU Ang, ZOU Ming, Chloe TAN, LUQI Wuwei, under the tutelage of Creative Practitioner Sandra TJIA, and with support from Federico FIORE (Animation Design) and Hector SALAZAR (Product Design), designed 12 one-of-a-kind 3D-printed Hyacinth Macaws that were adopted by Ferragamo (Singapore) Pte Ltd, Metro Pte Ltd, Bluebell Singapore Pte Ltd, Breadtalk Pte Ltd, The Hour Glass Limited, SPH REIT, ETRO (Singapore) Pte Ltd, Burberry (Singapore) Distribution Company Pte Ltd, FJ Benjamin (Singapore) Pte Ltd, and 3ad Group Pte Ltd, to raise money for The Business Times Budding Artists Fund to nurture and develop young artistic talent. A collaborative project linking cultures by Design!

4. METRO UNIFORM DESIGN To commemorate Metro's 62nd birthday in 2019, the renowned departmental store will be revamping their retail staff uniforms to suit their DQV philosophy, i.e. Design, Quality, Value. Raffles Designers in Coventry University's Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Fashion Design programme were tasked to design a modern and contemporary uniform for Metro staff. The design challenge was launched on 11 July with Ms Esther ANG-GOH, Head, Human Resources & Administration, sharing the past uniform designs and the direction forward. Raffles Singapore would like to thank Metro for the opportunity and we look forward to refreshing uniforms at all Metro outlets in 2019! 5. SINGAPORE RIVER’S STREET FURNITURE DESIGN The Singapore River's Street Furniture Design Project was embarked on by Singapore River One, Goldbell Group, and Raffles Singapore, with the aims of showcasing the talents of our youth designers as well as to elevate the vibrancy of the Singapore precinct. Both Raffles Interior and Product Designers presented their concepts to the judging panel, which comprised of Mr Rainer TENIUS, Board member of SRO; Ms Janice WAN, Senior Manager for Marketing and Communications, Goldbell Group; Mr Don LIM, Exco member of Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC); and Mr Jasen CHEN, Director for Place Management, Urban Redevelopment Authority. Two of the three designs were fabricated and will be installed along the Singapore River precinct, so visitors and locals can rest their feet during their stroll down the river.

6. INTERVENTION BY DESIGN Raffles Interior Designers Sally TAY and Monica ANGELIN clinched 3 out of the 5 awards at the Young Designer Award 2018 organised by Design Intervention. Monica and Sally join Raffles Interior Designers, AUNG Naing Linn from Myanmar, who bagged the top prize in the Young Designer Award 2016, and VELARDE Charmille Grace Rolden, who won the People’s Choice Award and 1st Runner up in the Young Designer Award 2017. The Young Designer Award goes beyond a trophy as it drives students to excel further and adopt the trait of innovation. With the competition getting more challenging on a yearly basis, Raffles Designers have been motivated to keep pushing forward in order to stay on top of the game and present their best creations. Having seen the benefits of this competition, Design Intervention aims to help the new generation of aspiring young designers by inculcating inspiration into them to be all that they can be, by not limiting their levels of creativity.

Raffles Interior Designers Sally TAY & Monica ANGEL 7. RECIPIENTS OF COVENTRY UNIVERSITY’S FIRST-CLASS HONOURS AND TUTOR’S PRIZE AWARDS Ms Barbara TULLY, Associate Dean – International of Coventry University, Top Modern University and ranked 13th in Guardian University Guide 2019, officiated the Awards Ceremony on 14 December 2018. The top awards were conferred to these outstanding Raffles Designers and Marketers after the rigorous academic assessment by the following panel of External Examiners:

9. SOPHIE HALLETTE DESIGN CHALLENGE 2019 The MOU signing between Sophie Hallette and Raffles Singapore on 29th November 2018 marked another milestone in Raffles Singapore’s commitment towards the Sophie Hallette Design Challenge in Asia. We were very honoured to have CEO of Sophie Hallette, Mr Romain LESCROART, sign the MOU, and Managing Director of N J Bhagwan, Mr Vishal ADVANI, witness the ceremony. Raffles Fashion Designers and Raffles Jewellery Designers were privileged to learn more about Sophie Hallette in a great presentation by Mr Romain! In the inaugural Sophie Hallette Design Challenge Asia, Raffles Fashion Designer CHEN Yiling was crowned the winner, and had the opportunity to showcase her collection in the “PLITZS New York Fashion Week” Designer Showcase during Fashion Week in New York on September 8, 2018. Two other finalists, Vivien VERONICA and Ma Renee Angela Esquillo DE GUZMAN, had their collections showcased during the official Spouse Programme at the 33rd ASEAN Summit in Singapore hosted by Mrs LEE Hsien Loong, Ms SIM Ann, and Mrs Joy BALAKRISHNAN. In addition, Renee presented her collection using Sophie Hallette’s tulle and lace on the prestigious catwalk of the Benetton Studios located at Treviso (Italy) and won the Lectra Special Award at International Lab of Mittelmoda - Fashion Award 2018! The collaboration between Sophie Hallette and Raffles Singapore presents endless opportunities for Raffles Designers to showcase their works on the international stage!
