Here we are again!
Welcome to our journey through the back catalogue of the House of Mouse! It’s been 6 years since we were last here and as well as the choir changing there’s been lots of new Disney film scores to plunder in putting this concert together. Any concert featuring Disney music at the moment wouldn’t be complete without something from Frozen, so of course we’ll feature that! My daughter might have had something to say if I hadn’t as well! We then put together a programme of the well known, and the less well known, but absolutely every one a gem. And that’s what we present tonight.
A lot has happened since we last met! We were delighted to end the year raising over £5,000 for our friends at The Forget Me Not Chorus, we know the money is already making a difference and we hope to be able to invite them back in the future to perform with us. We helped out our friends at Cyncoed Methodist Church raise money for the work they do in Cardiff with the homeless through their ‘Soup Run’ - this year almost £1,000 to add to the £2,000 we’ve raised in previous years. We also performed for the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales at St German’s Church, in February! Now those of you who have followed the choir for some time will remember that we’ve performed there a number of times and it is somewhat chilly! Needless to say it’s an unusual feeling performing with a jumper under my black shirt!! Plus the Curtis family has welcomed another new addition, Noah, on the day after the Cyncoed Concert! Nothing like timed to perfection.
When putting the programme together I approached our incredibly talented friend David Harrington to commission a special overture to get us started. I’m delighted to be sharing it with you tonight. We think there are 27 themes included but it’s difficult to tell with some of them flashing past in seconds! See how many you can spot!
After tonight we’ll take our traditional summer break and then come back refreshed to start on our Christmas programme for 2015 REJOICE AND BE MERRY! We’ll also be squeezing in our first ‘tour’ as over 100 of our singers will be travelling to Cornwall in November to perform in a variety of exciting venues, eat the odd Cream Tea and down the odd medicinal alcoholic beverage to loosen the vocal chords!
We hope you enjoy tonight, and remember…..the dreams that you wish do come true!

Megan Emma Griffiths
Megan was born to one of our choir members Jo and her husband Peter in January 2015. Unfortunately Megan’s
time with her parents and big sister Ellie was limited to just one day. It is difficult to comprehend the loss of a child,
let alone one taken from a family so soon. When I chose the song for the programme it was because I liked the
song, it was written for the titles of the re-release of the classic film Cinderella and contains the corny line ‘Cause I
never dreamed I’d find a Cinderella of my own’. The choir reaction was to file it under the ‘cheese’ quota, but as
always I’ve tried to encourage them to sing the words with feeling and to find the connection!
At a recent rehearsal of the piece I looked across the hall and saw Jo singing her heart out with tears rolling down
her cheeks. At that point the words took on new meaning for me, and with Jo, Peter and Ellie’s permission we
dedicate the performance of this song to Megan’s memory. The words that so affected Jo are:-
From the moment I saw you, from the moment I looked into your eyes, there was something about you, I knew. That
you were once in a lifetime, a treasure near impossible to find, and I know how lucky I am to have you. Holding you
in my arms, no-one else’s fit so perfectly. But I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as you. SC

Ty Hapus is a unique and specialist day time service for people with early onset
Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, focusing on those diagnosed under 65 and their
families.
Ty Hapus is a unique charity in that they work with the Alzheimer’s Society to provide day
time support to those with dementia and their carers and loved ones. Dementia can have
a devastating effect on families, and all too often care has to be given not only to those
suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementias, but also to the carers and loved ones
supporting them.
Their patrons include Professor Julie Williams, who with her team at Cardiff University, is
leading ground-breaking research into early onset Alzheimer's Disease, All Blacks World
Champion Coach Sir Graham Henry, esteemed author AA Gill, TV Star and broadcaster
Fiona Phillips, Welsh International Soprano Rebecca Evans and West End Star Sophie
Evans are our patrons.
As well as offering unique daily respite for those suffering with early onset, in an age
appropriate, dignified and beautiful environment in a refurbed Edwardian Doctor’s
Surgery in Barry, Ty Hapus also has the Moondance café attached to the daily respite
project, which offers a wonderful facility to those of any age with dementia, and their
families.
The Moondance Café offers a calm, safe and comfortable environment with daily
newspapers, magazines and board games. For others, it is a safe quiet place for those
with dementia and their families to sit with a tea or a coffee.
There is also a Well Being room with a small but beautiful hairdressing and beauty salon
where independent therapists can offer our guests extra special services.
Ty Hapus is unique and it is hoped that this ground-breaking new centre in Wales will be a
blue print for the rest of the UK.
