R-NIC Radio Network Interface Controller (R-NIC) Desktop R-NIC M500-610 Series Mutualink’s R-NIC Series of Secure Controllers support the integration of fixed station or mobile radio transceivers irrespective of their operating frequencies or protocols. At the most basic level the R-NIC can interface with the radio equipment through a sophisticated, error-free VOX arrangement. Tighter integration between the R-NIC and radio equipment is a standard feature of the R-NIC which provides more refined control including selecting channels and monitoring the status of open or proprietary trunked systems. As an example, the R-NIC provides automatic variable delays between PTT and the assignment of a voice channel in a trunked system. If a voice channel has not been granted by the time transmit audio arrives at the R-NIC, the audio is digitally stored by the R-NIC until the channel grant occurs and then the R-NIC stored audio is spooled out to the transceiver until it becomes real-time. Variants of the R-NIC series provide support for standard fixed station interfaces including DC or EIA Tone Remote Control and E&M signaling in either 2 or 4-wire configurations. Models are available in either a desktop or convertible 1RU package for fixed or mobile installations.
