(Give thanks)

1. Give thanks with a grateful heart give thanks unto the Holy One give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, his Son.

(Repeat)

Refrain: And now let the weak say, "I am strong" let the poor say, "I am rich" because of what the Lord has done for us; give thanks

(Repeat)

Officiant / Aasiyah Brathwaite

V: Christ is with us! R: He is with us indeed! In joy and contrition we come before God.

THE PREPARATION: The Officiant

Dearly beloved, we have come together in the presence of Almighty God our heavenly Father, to set forth his praise, to hear his holy Word, and to ask, for ourselves and on behalf of others, those things that are necessary for our life and our salvation. And so that we may prepare ourselves in heart and mind to worship him, let us kneel in silence, and with penitent and obedient hearts confess our sins, that we may obtain forgiveness by his infinite goodness and mercy.

The Officiant: Let us confess our sins.

The Confession: Aasiyah Brathwaite

Gracious God, Creator and Father, we come before you a rebellious people. We have denied your intentions for us; we have preferred our own way to Christ's way; we have disobeyed your commandments; and we have worshipped ourselves and the things we have made. Forgive us, restore in us the knowledge of who we are, and make us alive to serve you in faith, obedience, and joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Officiant

Hear the promises of God: 'Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.' 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins.' I announce, therefore, in the name of Jesus Christ, that we are forgiven. Amen

Officiant / Aasiyah Brathwaite

V. Praise the Lord. R. The Lord be praised

V. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.

Amen. Alleluia.

Canticle Of Praise Or Invitatory

2 The Lord is great in Zion; * he is high above all peoples.

3 Let them confess his Name, which is great and awesome; * he is the Holy One.

4 "O mighty King, lover of justice, you have established equity; * you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob."

5 Proclaim the greatness of the Lord our God and fall down before his footstool; * he is the Holy One.

and Samuel among those who call upon his Name, * they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.

7 He spoke to them out of the pillar of cloud; * they kept his testimonies and the decree that he gave them.

8 O Lord our God, you answered them indeed; * you were a God who forgave them, yet punished them for their evil deeds.

THE FIRST READING: 1 THESSALONIANS 1:1-10

Jasmine Greene

Paul opens his letter to the church at Thessalonica with a Christian message and wish.

A Reading from the Word of God, written in the Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians, Chapter 1, beginning at the first verse.

Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

Grace to you and peace.

We always give thanks to God for all of you and mention you in our prayers, constantly remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers and sisters beloved by God, that he has chosen you, because our message of the

gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of persons we proved to be among you for your sake. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for in spite of persecution you received the word with joy inspired by the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. For the word of the Lord has sounded forth from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith in God has become known, so that we have no need to speak about it. For the people of those regions report about us what kind of welcome we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead-- Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath that is coming.

The Word of the Lord

The people: Thanks be to God.

Canticle: A Song to the Lamb

Jordan Griffith

Revelation 4:11, 5:9-10, 13

Splendour and honour and kingly power* are yours by right, O Lord our God,

For you created everything that is,* and by your will they were created and have their being;

And yours by right, O Lamb that was slain,* for with your blood you have redeemed for God,

From every family, language, people, and nation,* a kingdom of priests to serve our God.

And so, to him who sits upon the throne,* and to Christ the Lamb.

Be worship and praise, dominion and splendour,* for ever and for evermore.

The Second Reading: Matthew 22:15-22

Josiah Graham

Representatives of the religious authorities have asked Jesus by what authority he has performed the many deeds in his ministry. Matthew has just told us the Parable of the Wedding Feast. The Pharisees have seen it as an attack on them.

A Reading from the Word of God, written in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 22 beginning at the fifteenth verse.

The Pharisees went and plotted to entrap Jesus in what he said. So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and teach the way of God in accordance with truth, and show deference to no one; for you do not regard people with partiality. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to the emperor, or not?” But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin used for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. Then he said to them, “Whose head is this, and whose title?” They answered, “The emperor’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they heard this, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.

The Word of the Lord

The people: Thanks be to God.

Hymn 539 (CPWI Hymnal)

(Take my life, and let it be)

1. Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee; take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2. Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of thy love; take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.

3. Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King; take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold; take my intellect, and use every power as thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will, and make it thine; it shall be no longer mine; take my heart: it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour at thy feet its treasure-store; take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for thee.

Reflection Savannah Corrigan

The Apostles’ Creed: Dominic Brewster

I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn 400 (CPWI Hymnal)

(We have a gospel to proclaim)

1. We have a gospel to proclaim, Good news for men in all the earth; The gospel of a Saviour's name: We sing His glory, tell His worth.

2. Tell of His birth at Bethlehem, Not in a royal house or hall But in a stable dark and dim: The Word made flesh, a light for all.

3. Tell of His death at Calvary, Hated by those He came to save, In lonely suffering on the cross: For all He loved, His life He gave.

4. Tell of that glorious Easter morn: Empty the tomb, for He was free. He broke the power of death and hell That we might share His victory.

5. Tell of His reign at God's right hand, By all creation glorified; He sends His Spirit on His Church To live for Him, the Lamb who died.

6. Now we rejoice to name Him King: Jesus is Lord of all the earth. This gospel-message we proclaim; We sing His glory, tell His worth.
