    Courses offered

In this brochure you can see some general information about the

photography workshops and courses I can offer. Many of them can

be adapted to different age groups, levels or facilities. Most of them

can be presented as short, experimental workshops or as part of

lengthy, in-depth courses. So whatever the space you have,

whoever you work with, Im sure we can adapt a course to fit. If you

have something particular in mind or have any queries do just ask. I

have excellent references and testimonies are available directly

from students and employers on request. Previous employers

include BBC Outreach, Bristol City Council and the Chiapas

    Photography Project.

All of the tuition I offer focuses on making photography more

interesting and accessible for a wider range of people. Technique

through doing, at-home processes, hand-made and low tech

photography are all methods to engage more people in new,

    exciting ways.

1.Pinhole PhotographyThese workshops are great because each student walks away with a

working camera theyve made themselves. Fun, refreshing and engaging

for everyone from the most experienced photographer to beginners.

Suitable for supervised children 8 yrs and over, and adults.

    Absolutely no previous experience necessary.

    Pinhole Photography: Drinks Can Camera

With this simple, introductory pinhole workshop you have immediate

results. Participants quickly make their cameras then spend the rest of the

workshop actually taking photos and seeing the results within a few

minutes. Though this can simply be a fun stand-alone workshop, this

camera relies on a simple darkroom process. Therefore participants are

usually encouraged to continue on to Part 2 since the matchbox camera

uses film which can simply be taken to a lab.

    Duration:2 hours

Specialist requirements: darkroom space which could be easily

temporarily converted from an existing dark space onsite.

    Pinhole: Matchbox Camera

Participants will learn to construct a fully functioning, reusable film

camera with step by step support. This workshop focuses on constructing

the camera, with time to take photos with them together at the end.

    Duration:3 hours

    No specialist requirements.

2.CyanotypeA less common workshop, reaching back into the 19

    thCentury, revealing a

whole other side to photography which pre-dates photographic film. The

cyanotype is a beautiful historical photographic process which creates

delicate Prussian Blue hand-made prints without the need for complex

equipment. In this course you will be guided through this creative

technique, print your own cyanotypes and take home instructions on how

to do more by yourself simply using the sun. No previous experience

    necessary.

No previous experience necessary. Adults only please.

Specialist requirements: Working area away from natural light; shaded or

ideally a space without windows, sink(s).

way of making photos which dates back to 1833. Participants will earn to

make their own delicate brown-black photographs using a simple mix of

chemicals, a dash of salt and a few minutes of sunlight. Take home your

salt prints from the day and tips on how to do it at home.
