The R5 fits perfectly in any hand with or without gloves, wet or dry. Large tactile buttons and a rotary volume control make it easy to operate even in the harshest environment. The large backlit display is easy to read, even at night, where the red backlight prevents disturbance of the user’s night vision.

The R5 is a fully featured GMDSS survival craft radio with user-friendly design and features. It is built to meet the latest stringent IMO, GMDSS and ETSI standards. Reliable and easy to use, it is 100% waterproof and drop tested to cope with the toughest marine environments. The large tactile buttons can easily be operated with gloves without unintended activation of buttons. A ribbed design ensures a solid grip even in wet conditions. The McMurdo R5 has all the features that can be expected from a professional portable radio as well as accessories, superior technology combined with intensive research among users has resulted in a solid design that suits the professional user requiring a reliable and easy to use portable radio.

IP67 (submersible to ½ metre for ½ hour) tested and approved on top of all international standards for portable units.
