VI. New Business Jovita mentioned that courses were approved at the September 27th meeting without the faculty proposer or faculty representation. She wanted to know if the policy has changed. She mentioned that in the past faculty was required to be present to answer any questions that the committee may have regarding the proposal. Other committee members agreed. Eric responded that the policy hasn’t changed. There was a brief discussion and the committee agreed that the policy will remain the same. The faculty proposer or faculty representative must be present at the ACCC meeting to have their course reviewed. If the faculty sends another faculty or Dean as the representative for their course, they have to relinquish revision rights to this individual as well. Eric will send out an e-mail reminder to the faculty regarding this policy. Rachel recommended that the committee reduced the number of courses to be divided up for committee groups to review. She suggested that all the courses be divided regardless of the number on the agenda. She mentioned that this will allow the committee to thoroughly and effectively review the courses without being overwhelmed due to time restraints. After a brief discussion, the committee agreed to reducing the number to more than 5 courses on the agenda will be divided up for committee groups to review. Rachel asked for information on creating new study abroad courses. She mentioned that faculty that is involved with the study abroad will like to give students units. Eric responded it’s the normal course approval process. Fill out a course outline proposal and speak to Lauren regarding the hours because they are calculated differently, before submitting to the division Dean. Jovita introduced Theresa Carpio as the new articulation officer.
