“SPIE has had a particular focus at times on applications and uses of photonics that I think has spurred a lot of great thought on how problems can be solved
using photonics. Not just advancing the state of the art, but actually looking at the applications has been a great contribution that SPIE has made.”

17–21 APRIL 2016Defense + Commercial
Sensing Expo: 19-21 April 2016
Baltimore Convention Center Baltimore, Maryland, USA
Two major symposia. One premier exhibition.SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing (formerly SPIE DSS), the world’s leading technical conferences, courses, and exhibition on sensors, optics, imaging, lasers, and related areas for defense, security, industry, health, and the environment.
SPIE is celebrating the 40-year anniversary of the origins of this meeting, which started with atmospheric imaging, high-powered lasers, and fiber optics and reconnaissance. The event has continually adapted throughout the years to keep up with advancements, new technologies, and expanding application areas.
In 2016 the evolution continues by adding “commercial” in the name to reflect a broadening scope of the conferences and exhibition and to serve the fast-growing commercial segment of the sensing and imaging industry.
Exhibitors are welcome to share your company’s developments in the technical conferences—have your team submit an abstract and present a paper to add visibility and connect with powerful attendees in the conference rooms.
