Sunrider’s efforts to protect the environment areinternational in scope and application.

Below are some examples of earth-friendly practicesand policies in effect at three overseas

Sunrider manufacturing facilities: 

Sunrider India (Gurgaon) Manufacturing

• We encourage tree planting and growing vegetation onour premises and in the surrounding area.

• To reduce noise pollution in the work place andsurrounding area, our diesel generator is enclosed in asound-proof canopy.

• To reduce energy costs, a capacitor bank is installed at themain power inlet.

• There are proposed plans for a smaller capacity dieselgenerator for off-peak hours to reduce fuel consumptionand air pollution.

Sunrider Singapore Manufacturing

• Self-closing delayed-action taps and sensor-controlledtaps are installed throughout the manufacturing facilities toconserve water.

• All perimeter lighting and corridor lighting are timercontrolled to save energy.

• All packaging materials such as plastic bags and cartonsare recycled through local converters.

• Steam condensate derived from manufacturing processesand operations is reused to conserve energy and water.

Sunrider Taiwan (Tai-Chung) Manufacturing

• Steam recycling troughs are installed in the boilers torecycle steam into water through a liquid-extract process,which conserves energy and water.

• A frequency converter is installed in the motor of the watersupply system to optimize water-flow control, thereby

reducing the consumption of ene rgy and resources.

• A signal receiver is installed in the compressor;the motor starts only when needed, which reducesenergy consumption.

• To avoid the leaking of heavy oil (low-sulfur fuel oil) andpolluting water sources, an anti-overflow dike has beenimplemented.

• All materials made of iron, plastic, and paper used in the plantare sorted and recycled, and all outer cartons are reused.

• We “green” the surrounding landscape of themanufacturing plant with trees and grass, not only tomaintain a beautiful park-like environment, but also tocontribute to carbon reduction.

Dr. Chen’s lifelong mission to promote unique, concentratedproducts is earth-friendly at its very core. Our highly

concentrated products do not contain extra water, gels, or fillersto “bulk” them up. This greatly reduces the amount of packagingand fuel to t ransport our products. And it’s economical—youdon’t have to pay us for adding and transporting extra stuffyou don’t need or want. When it comes to protecting theenvironment, “smaller” is indeed better.

Sunrider’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities reflect environmental

actions that we’ve taken to improve our buildings and processes:

Steam is circulated through cooling towers that

reduce the temperature of the water, allowing us to

recycle it. This conserves energy and water.

To reduce energy consumption, highly efficientequipment—including those with variable frequency

drives—is used, and insulation has been installed

extensively throughout the building.

Equipment from the formerly used Sunrider

manufacturing plants in the City of Industry has been

reused where practicable in our new facilities, thus

saving energy associated with manufacturing and

transporting new equipment.

New pre-heaters for our large boilers were

purchased, which saves natural gas, andnew energy-recovery systems are used to

conserve energy.

Only food-grade biodegradable lubricants

and paints are used in the running of our

machinery and equipment.

Los Angeles Manufacturing Plants

In addition to many of our products being

developed to combat the effects of an

increasingly polluted world, our new Los Angeles

Manufacturing Plants have been designed

to incorporate many environmental elements,

including important energy conservation and

design efficiency features. For example, there’s

an extensive use of skylights in this expansive

three-building complex, which provides beneficial

natural daylight. There are also occupancy sensors

(motion detectors), lighting timers, photocells for

outdoor nighttime lighting, and other energy-saving

devices, all of which conserve energy and benefit

the environment.

All air-conditioning systems have been designed

for air-side or water-side economizers (free

cooling) to save energy.

Motion sensors are used in the restrooms to

conserve water.

Environmentally friendly water-soluble and

biodegradable shipping filler materials are used.
