VOCABULARY Ratio-
A comparison of two numbers by division. Can be written as:
a : b a b
Rate- when a and b of a ratio represent quantities
measured in different units. The numerator is one unit, the denominator is a
different unit.
Unit Rate- When the denominator of a rate is 1.
WORD PROBLEM In 2001, Lance Armstrong won the Tour de
France, completing the 3,454 km course in about 86.3 hours. Traveling at his average speed, how long would it take him to ride 185 km? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.
