There is no need to be able to draw, just have an interest in exploring the magical qualities of vibrant colour and design when painting on silk. We will also explore colour layering effects and incorporate print and stamp overlays, allowing each participant to produce unique and exciting results. Treat yourself to a weekend of stitching seasonal projects ready for Christmas and use them to decorate your own home, or give them as special presents. Stars, kings, doves, poinsettias, angels, Christmas trees; you’ll find them all here in abundance and this course is ideal for complete beginners to patchwork or accomplished stitchers who want to extend their skills. Here’s a weekend course for all of you who would like to learn how to ‘draw’ with the sewing machine needle. Imagine that the thread is your ‘ink’ and the needle is your ‘pen’ and you will be amazed how many effects you can achieve with the simple straight stitch. It would be helpful if you practice free machining with a walking foot if you have one a little beforehand. Discover how to take raw materials and textiles, and by applying a range of experimental techniques, explore the qualities and characters of fabric and paper to express your individual designs. Here is a truly unconventional and creative textile weekend residential course where you can develop your own unique ideas. Take a new look at ‘Green thinking’ and use found or discarded items to stimulate your creativity.
