Fall of Rome Here are some of the reasons why the Roman Empire falls...
Commodus became emperor (very cruel man and wasted loss of money) he wanted to be a gladiator more than an emperor!
A plague kills 1/10 population. Also, there is an abundance of lead in the water that makes thousands sick and die.
Inflation= government put less gold in coins in circulation, people found out they had little value and they begin to barter.
Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Franks, Vandals, Angles and Saxons are Germanic warriors that invade Rome and destroy cities.
To sum it up:
Bad leadership, lead in the water, bad economy, plagues, and Germanic invaders.

Rome Divides Constantine movescapital from Rome
to Byzantium,which he later named
Constantinople.
He moved for protectionfrom the Germanictribes that attacked.
Rome thought it could be managed better if it split in half and 2 emperors ruled.
This was an important location because it was
in between a trade route for Europe and
Asia. It was also better protected because of the
seas.

Importance of Constantine and Christianity64 AD Nero makes Christianity illegal. He persecutes and kills many Christians.
Pax Romana (27 BC - 180 AD)Christianity spreads because of the peaceful time in Rome, good roads, and everyone speaks and understands Latin.
312 AD Constantine becomes first Christian emperor of Rome.
He sees a burning cross in the sky during a battle and sees a message that says IN HOC SIGNO VINCES! In Latin in means “By this sign, you will win!”
