1.2 Safety and warning noticesThe HUBER quick coupling set must be used according to the installation guide for safe use.
CAUTION! Use of unsuitable/defective hoses and/or hose connections INJURIES Use appropriate hoses and/or hose connections. Check periodically for leaks and the quality of the hose and
hose connections and take suitable measures (replace) as required.
Isolate and protect temperature control hoses against contact/mechanical load.
CAUTION! Hot or cold thermal fluid and surfaces BURNS TO LIMBS Avoid direct contact with the thermal fluids or the surfaces. Wear your personnel protective equipment (e.g. tempera-
ture-resistant safety gloves, safety goggles, safety foot-wear).
CAUTION! The bending radius of the temperature control hose used is smaller than the minimum bending radius INJURIES Ensure compliance with the maximum permissible bending
radius of temperature control hoses. This prevents the rup-ture of the pressurized temperature control hoses.
We recommend using 90° elbows between temperature control unit and cap.
Do not exceed the tightening torque of the coupling nuts.
CAUTION! Using non-approved quick coupling sets in ATEX zones INJURIES In ATEX zones, only use quick coupling sets approved for
the zone, explosion subgroup and temperature range.
NOTE Modifications to the temperature control unit by third-parties DAMAGE TO THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL UNIT Do not allow third parties to make technical modifications
to the temperature control unit. In case of any modification of the temperature control unit
not approved by the manufacturer, the CE declaration of conformity becomes invalid.
Only specialists trained by the manufacturer may carry out modifications, repairs or maintenance work.
The following must be observed without fail: Only use the temperature control unit in a fault-free condi-
tion! Have start-up and repairs carried out only by specialists! Do not ignore, bypass, dismantle or disconnect any safety
devices!
NOTE Carrying out maintenance work not described in this installa-tion guide DAMAGE Contact Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau AG for any
maintenance work not described in the installation guide. Only perform the following maintenance work on the
temperature control unit yourself.
NOTE The thermal fluid temperature is higher/lower than the room temperature when the quick coupling set is disconnected PROPERTY DAMAGE CAUSED BY OVER- OR UNDERPRESSURE The pressure cannot be compensated on the application
side due to temperature changes after disconnecting both quick coupling caps. Even small temperature changes cause large changes in pressure (> 0.5 bar).
Bring the thermal fluid up to room temperature using the temperature control unit.
Protect the application from heat sources such as sunlight and the like.
Do not close the shut-off valves in the thermal fluid circuit. Note the maximum pressure rating of the application and if
necessary provide for safety devices against overpressure. e.g. rupture disc or an approved safety valve.
NOTE Using unapproved thermal fluids PROPERTY DAMAGE CAUSED BY LEAKAGE The use of other than HUBER thermal fluids is classified as
misuse of the quick coupling sets and may lead to the de-struction of seals.
Only use HUBER thermal fluids.
Product description INSTALLATION GUIDE Chapter 2
Quick Coupling Sets Liability for errors and misprints excluded. V1.0.0en/16.12.15 10
2 Product description Stainless steel quick coupling set consisting of lock nipple and/or cap with connecting thread M30*1.5.
The cap additionally has a 90° elbow, which is mounted to the temperature control unit or the application.
2.1 Intended use The quick coupling set is only intended for connecting HUBER temperature control units with HUBER temperature control hoses and/or applications provided by the responsible body. The quick coupling set is a work equipment intended to be used in commercial and industrial areas and for operators trained in the handling of technical systems / tools by qualified personnel.
The cap is used primarily on the temperature control unit or the application. The lock nipple is used primarily on the tempera-ture control hose. The connection and disconnection process is manual. The quick coupling set intended for temperature con-trol circuits in HUBER temperature control units with pump connections (M30*1.5) and in combination with HUBER thermal fluids.
2.2 Description of application
Lock nipple with 1-inch cap for HUBER M30*1.5 thread for temperature control units temperature control hoses or applications
The highly dynamic temperature control units by Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau AG are a revolution in the thermoregulation of fluids and the perfect solution especially for the fast and highly accurate thermoregulation of externally closed applica-
tions. The temperature control units are predestined for appli-cations in process technology and process engineering. The temperature control units are connected to systems (e.g. reactors) by insulated temperature control hoses. The discon-nection points are equipped with metal-sealing threaded joints. The quick coupling sets available on the market are neither suitable for the temperature range of HUBER temperature control units nor for the broad spectrum of HUBER thermal fluids. The design-based high pressure losses result in a consid-erably worse performance of the overall system. Until now, temperature control units always had to be drained before changing applications. We therefore have developed a quick coupling set that meets the special requirements of ther-moregulation technology and safely prevents the escape of temperature control media during disconnection.
2.3 Features and advantages ▪ Excellent flow rates ensure the least pressure losses and
optimum temperature control processes. ▪ High quality and durable sealing compounds ensure safe
operation. ▪ All components are made of high-grade stainless steels. ▪ The free rotation reliably prevents twisted temperature
control hoses. ▪ Can be installed in bulkheads, e.g. to connect to the glass
reactor. ▪ Various connections possible, thus existing systems can be
equipped too. ▪ Bayonet locking device ensures low axial coupling forces. ▪ Low leakage rate during disconnection. ▪ Operation even during conventional icing. ▪ Compact design for small installation spaces. ▪ Smooth surfaces around valves make cleaning easy. ▪ Wear parts such as seals can be changed, especially the main
seal can be changed from the outside without disassembly. ▪ Service and maintenance possible.

3 Operating manual Only use the cap set under the operating conditions specified in chapter 2 (Product description) to prevent any hazardous inju-ries to personnel and damage to the cap set during operation.
3.1 Coupling process Visually inspect the cap and lock nipples prior to any coupling. Damaged parts must be replaced in case of recognizable and visible damage or deformations. Without ring handle: Hold the lock nipple on the temperature control hose at the locking sleeve.
Procedure for opening the coupling: The coupling movement is a clockwise rotating movement. Cap and lock nipple move a little apart from each other after getting past the dead center until the end position is reached. Cap and lock nipple are now mechanically locked.
3.2 Disconnection procedure Hold the lock nipple as you did when engaging the coupling and turn it counter-clockwise. Procedure for closing the coupling: The disconnection movement is a counter-clockwise rotating movement. Cap and lock nipple move a little towards each
other during the disconnection movement until the dead center is reached. The valves in the cap and lock nipple close during this movement.
4 Maintenance and functional test The quick coupling set must be handled such that it is impossi-ble to cause external damage to elements or any moving parts. Maintenance and functional tests must be carried out in suita-ble intervals according to the operating conditions to always ensure the proper function of the coupling unit and thus the protection of the operator. Note! The warranty becomes null and void if a repair is performed by anyone other than HUBER or HUBER-trained personnel.
4.1 Maintenance NOTE
Carrying out maintenance work not described in this installa-tion guide DAMAGE Contact Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau AG for any
maintenance work not described in the installation guide.
Visually inspect the coupling unit when uncoupled for external damage and contamination. Wipe off contamination in the externally accessible function section (sealing area, operating elements). The coupling unit must be removed and sent to HUBER for repair if parts are damaged, torn or corroded. It is up to the customer to return the coupling unit to HUBER for repair or to self-repair the unit if the seals are worn, embrittled or too old or extremely dirty.
CAUTION! Returning uncleaned coupling units INJURIES The coupling unit must be shipped in a completely clean
condition when returning it to HUBER in case media haz-ardous to health media are used. No media hazardous to health may be released from the coupling unit during dis-assembly.
The shipper (customer) is responsibility this is complied with.
Storage Chapter 5 INSTALLATION GUIDE
V1.0.0en/16.12.15 Liability for errors and misprints excluded. Quick Coupling Sets 13
5 Storage The coupling unit must be stored separately so that no damage can occur. Install protective transport caps on all connections to avoid damage or contamination. The storage conditions of the coupling unit are determined by the regulations for the seals as improper storage may cause modifications.
The following points must be observed: ▪ The seals must be stored dry. ▪ The seals must not be stored under the effect of daylight to
safely conserve the seals. ▪ The seals must be kept in its packaging to protect it from
oxygen.
6 Shutting down The cap / lock nipple must be disposed of safely and in accord-ance with legal provisions at the end of its service life. To do so, employ local public or private waste disposal compa-nies.
