3. Design an experiment that investigates the effectiveness of this type of UV protection using UV Beads and the sun.

Your Experiment May Use:

•Six Petri Dishes (*plus one extra if needed)

•30 UV Beads (ex. 5 each trial)

•Plastic wrap over each dish (required if using sunscreen lotion or chapstick)

•Black paper

•Stopwatch

By the end of this class, I can:

• Write a testable question & hypothesis and design an experiment to give me reliable test data.

Things to think about and have figured out TODAY:•What type of UV protection will we choose?

•What question do we want to test?

•What are my variables: MV, RV, Controlled?

•How will I ensure my data are reliable? (That means including a Control Group!!

•What do I need to bring for my group? (Don’t forget to bring your stuff!).

For NEXT CLASS:

Each group member needs to have written:

•Question - including MV, RV

•Hypothesis - yours may be different from team members. OK if you disagree, as long as you are running same experiment.

•Complete Procedures - include a Control Group!

•Data Table - set-up and ready to record data
