Tripod;Throughout lesson we were taught to

use the tripod and how to angle it in different ways in order to improve the overall quality of our thriller opening. This meant that we were able to use a variety of shots include tilt shots, panning shots, steady shots and others. We were able to develop our usage of the tripod in order to improve our thriller out make it more original and effective.

Still camera;We used two still cameras, the schools and our own. This was in order to take pictures of our storyboard and upload them onto our blogs and also to take pictures of us working. This was to demonstrate what we had filmed and in order to take pictures of us capturing the scenery we used in our thriller opening.

DV Digital Camcorder;

We used this camera to do all of our filming of our thriller opening and the other film clips used throughout our coursework. This includes our thriller, our preliminary task our interviews and our spider diagram. All of this has meant we have had a lot of time to improve our usage of the camera and develop our filming quality. We also learnt how to upload these film clips onto the computers and edit them.

Apple Mac Computer;

It worked. It isn’t that much different to a normal computer however, has some major differences. One of these is that the mouse has no left or right click it is just one click meaning copy and paste can not take place. But over time our knowledge of the Mac improved and so did our skills in using it.

Using the Apple Mac computers allowed us to improve our thriller and make it more effective. The Mac however, was very hard to grasp the concept of how

Blogger is the site which every student had to create ‘online diary’ of their interpretations and understandings of the term thriller and the key components of it. We each have our individual blog address, mine is as follows; www.ashleighhayrc.blogspot.com and can be visited by anyone who chooses to visit it around the globe. Also, I am bale to visit other peoples blogs in order to a wider incite of thriller genre. I feel personally as though my blog has turned out extremely well and that I have kept up to date and posted quite regularly.

Slide Share;This is a website which is used to change power points into slideshows easily and effectively. The website is easy to use and proves to be very effective in delivering information to high standards.

Wordle.net;I used this as an alternative, more imaginative and fun way to display information I obtained using surveymonkey.com during our target audience research. It’s was a brilliant way to find out the more popular answers quicker as the words written most appeared larger than those written least. This website was easy to use and had a variety of designs available.

SurveyMonkey.com;I used this website to create my survey to research into the target audience of a thriller. I then posted this onto facebook in order for my friends and family to see the survey and complete it. This was quick and simple to use

and allowed us to find our target audience easily and effectively.

OneTrueMedia.com;I used onetruemedia on many occasions to create a slide shows of pictures/montages in order to demonstrate a variety of things. I believe this was a very useful tool in order to display information differently rather than in essay form.

www.youtube.comAs all of the members of my group had used YouTube before, we found it easy to display what we needed to display by using the website. We also used it to find examples of previous thrillers and how to use the Mac computers effectively. We uploading things such as our preliminary task, our ident and our thriller in order for others to watch and comment.

www.Mobygratis.com;This site enabled us to get the music for our thriller. We asked for permission for several tracks however didn’t use any as we believe the music from newgrounds suited it better. . The site was easy to use and enabled us to choose from a wide variety of music suitable for our thriller.

Newgrounds;Newgrounds was the site in which we got all of the music used within our thriller. It was easy to use and there were thousands of tracks to choose from. There were also choices of genre, rating and date which made our search a lot easier and quicker. I believe it was very useful.

Livetype;Livetype was a very useful software in which

animated text can be created easily. We used this piece of software in order to create our ident and thriller titles. This software was hard to use to start with however, easily adapted upon once the basics are learnt.

Photoshop;We used this website to create our ideas for our different ident and our final ident. This was easy to use as many members of our group have used it before to a deep level and understand it fully.

Garageband;We used Garageband to create the music for our Ident, we believe this was easy to use. The part that seemed trick was placing our music on top of our actual ident.

Imovie;We found it extremely difficult to place our music over the top of our ident but in the end found it could be done using the format Imovie found on the Mac computers. After find the app, it did not take me long to place the two together and complete our ident.

FinalCutExpress;We used this to do all of our editing and piece our thriller together. It was quite easy to use once we got the hang of it, however our knowledge of what we could do with final cut express increased every time we used it. Therefore, we may not have used it to the highest standard possible although the teachers did constantly advice us on how to use it.

Skills I have gained;In my honest opinion, I believe I have gained many skills throughout my time so far in media and the creation of my coursework. Including how to use the Mac computers and programmes such as final cut express and Garageband. Furthermore, I have also discovered how to display information in several different ways such as through surveys, montages, graphs and slideshows. Finally, I believe I have developed my teamwork skills throughout the project and have learnt how to compromise in order to come up with the best outcome for every member of the group possible.
