    The Mother Tongue Language (MTL) policy requires all students (including foreign students)to offer MTL.

    MTL is an entry requirement to Junior Colleges and Local Universities.

    Students exempted from the Mother Tongue Languages at PSLE by MOE will continue to be exempted at O/N Level.

    Please submit a copy of Exemption Letter given by MOE to Form Teachers on Thursday, 2 Jan 2020.

  • 03 ACADEMIC POLICIESSTUDENTS WHO OFFER MTL-IN-LIEU/ FOREIGN LANGUAGES (NOT EXEMPTION)

    Important:

    Students who offer MTL-in-lieu/ Foreign Languages (French/German/Japanese) or Thai/Burmese at Primary are NOT exempted from Mother Tongue Languages.

  • 03 ACADEMIC POLICIESSTUDENTS WHO OFFER MTL-IN-LIEU/ FOREIGN LANGUAGES (NOT EXEMPTION)

    Important:

    Students are to continue taking the subject with private study arrangements and sit for the exam at GCE O/N level.

    Documents on the private study arrangement are to be submitted to FTs on 2 Jan 2020.

  • 03 ACADEMIC POLICIESSTUDENTS WHO OFFER FOREIGN LANGUAGES (NOT EXEMPTION)

    Important:

    Sec 1 students taking Foreign Languages (French/German /Japanese) are to continue with private study arrangements. This is to prepare them for the Readiness Test should a vacancy at MOELC be available for them. Students are required to submit a re-application through school and will be placed on the waiting list to be considered for MOELC admission.

  • 03 ACADEMIC POLICIESSTUDENTS WHO OFFER FOREIGN LANGUAGES (NOT EXEMPTION)

    Important:

    MOELC is a third language centre and there are limited vacancies. Therefore the students are required to study the FL at Private Centre or with a Private Tutor while waiting. You are required to submit documents such as marked assignments, result slips, payment receipt etc for checking by end of Term1.

    The students will be registered for examination at MOELC in September/October 2020.

    Only eligible students are offered Higher Mother Tongue Option Forms (Form A given by MOE)

    Form A is to be submitted to Form Teacher by today, Monday 23 December 2020.

    CRITERIA FOR TRANSFER FROM NORMAL MOTHER TONGUE TOHIGHER MOTHER TONGUEYear 1 Express students are to take a proficiency test to beconsidered for offering.Sec 2 Express students who attain at least an overall result of 75%for Normal Mother Tongue, AND an average of 70% or higher forall subjects overall, may be considered for offering Higher MotherTongue in the following year.

    Lessons at MOE Language Centres are compulsory. Students who are unable to attend with valid reasons must produce supporting documents(e.g. Medical Certificate)

    Important: Students who offer Thai/Burmese in lieu of Mother Tongue Language are to study on their own as these subjects are not offered at MOELC. No marks will be be recorded and used for promotion purposes.

    Students who have applied for Third Language will receive the notification (successful/unsuccessful) today, 23December 2019. Please check with the Mother Tongue Language HOD at the School Foyer for more information.

    Successful applicants are to register for Third Language at MOE Language Centres or Zonal Centres on Monday, 30 December 2019 from 0830 to 1700 hours.
