3 Features and Improvements

3.1 Support for PTZ Tracking with trk-101-P

PTZ Tracking is supported on CP-4221-300/301 PTZ cameras with Hardware Version 2 or 3 when the camera is bound in Latitude to the trk-101-P PTZ Tracker. For details on using this feature, refer to Appendix A.2 Binding the PTZ Camera to trk-101-P.

To check if the PTZ camera supports PTZ Tracking

1. Upgrade the PTZ camera to the new firmware.

2. Access the camera’s web UI and select the System tab.

3. Select the View Information > Parameters tab.

Figure 1: System > View Information > Parameter Screen

If the version under the Hardware section is “Rev 2” or “Rev 3”, the camera supports the PTZ tracking feature.

5 Upgrade Procedure Use DNA firmware version 2.1.2.13 to upgrade from a previous firmware version. Do NOT use the camera’s web interface to perform the firmware upgrade.

Note:

1. When upgrading from a firmware version prior to dt20131021NSA, DNA performs a complex procedure that takes more time than previous firmware upgrades (up to 20 minutes).

2. This upgrade is not reversible. Downgrading back to previous GA firmware requires a special procedure that can be done only in the FLIR factory.

3. DNA preserves most of the configuration parameters. The unsaved parameters are Minimum shutter speed setting and HTTPS certificate.

4. Additional parameters may that are not saved on PTZ cameras (CP-XXXX models) include MJPEG frame rate, Home Function > Line, and Privacy Mask > Switch functions.

5. In some rare cases, the upgrade may fail when DNA tries to upgrade a Quasar PTZ camera with previous firmware version. DNA displays a message that the upgrade failed and that a manual full configuration restore is required. After performing a factory default, use the DNA to start the upgrade process again. Note that configuration parameters will be lost.

How to perform the firmware upgrade

1. If the camera is connected to Latitude VMS, you must stop the Latitude services.

2. Run DNA and perform the firmware upgrade according to instructions in the DNA User Manual.

3. When upgrading the PTZ camera firmware, the both the unit firmware and the PTZ Head

firmware files must be upgraded.

Note:

Units produced after November 2014 include PTZ Head module number ITN-2. The module version number (CEA10) is displayed in the System > Firmware Version screen. The PTZ Head firmware on units with this PTZ Head should not upgraded.

4. If the camera was connected to the Latitude VMS, restart the Latitude services.

Note:

A CP-4221-30x should have partial factory defaults applied through DNA or its web interface after changing its TV format (PAL/NTSC) while attached to the VMS.

A.1. Discovering and Configuring the Camera with DNA

DNA 2.1.2.13 or higher is required for the initial discovery of the camera on networks without a DHCP server. DNA is also used to access the camera and to change its IP address. DNA can be downloaded from here on the FLIR website.

If you have more than one camera, connect them one at a time and change their IP addresses to avoid potential network conflicts.
