The month of July has been equally eventful for the students particularly in enhancing their skills in Spell Bee, Story Narration and Creative Writing. Language competitions in English and Hindi were held meticulously where in students put up their creditable performances and made it to the next level of competition. (classes III,IV,V)

The response of the parents about the curriculum imparted at school acts as a strong feedback to develop a healthy atmosphere at school. The Interactive Sessions designed for various classes opened with talks on syllabus and academics. The sessions encouraged parents, to make any queries. Our Principal, Dr.B.K.Mishra spoke on the resolutions introduced in school and Vote of Thanks was presented by Ms.Neena Sharma (Headmistress – Incharge).

India successfully took command of the high posts which were lost to Pakistan on 26th July 1999.. Students of Mahanadi house hosted a show in the assembly which included rendition of poems and speeches by students of classes IV and V to mark the importance of this day and as a tribute to the martyrs.

A table laying competition organized on 28th July was graced and Judged by Mrs. Mamata Mishra & Mrs Pranati Mohanty the President & Secretary of Nalco Ladies Club respectively. The competition was a fine display of Indian culture blended with the sweet aroma of food. This competition was an admirable combination of table etiquettes, grace and hospitality among the participants of classes X, XI, & XII.

A school level Mock Youth Parliament was organized by Ms. Padmaja Nanda (PGT-Economics) for class XI students on 2nd August ‗17 in the school Auditorium on the topic ―Demonetization. It was graced by the benign presence of Mr. Bhagirathi Pradhan Distt. President BJP , Angul.

A Maths quiz competition was held on 28th July 2017 for classes VI & VII. Ravi house got the 1st position followed by Mahanadi house getting the 2nd position, Ganges & Yamuna house bagged the 3rd position jointly .

Comedy is a funny way of expressing serious issues. At a hilarious competition the following students were awarded for their histrionics and wit.

One of the various ways of expressing one‘s love for the country is through poetry. Thus a competition was organized to help students evoke such feelings through a few patriotic songs.

To spread the message of unity, peace, brotherhood and harmony for progress, our students had paid visits to many dignitaries of Nalco on the day of Raksha Bandhan. Taking the blessings of Dr. B.K Mishra, Principal of the school, they visited Mr. RK Mishra ED S&P, Complex, NALCO and the Pro vice Chairman of the school, Mr. A. Acharya GM (Finance) and member Finance , Mr.P.K.Mohanty G.M (H& A) and member (admin) of our school, Mr.B.B.Das, GM CPP and Heads of other Departments like the Vigilance, Systems, Materials, the Nalco hospital, D and the Commandant, CISF. They visited the Senior Officials of District Administration.They were warmly welcomed for their novel approach .

CELEBRATING THE BOND OF BROTHERHOOD “RAKSHA BANDHAN “ (5TH AND 7TH AUGUST “17)

A Contest was organised for the students of classes VIII, IX and X on the topic ―When I am 64‖ to sensitize them about the needs of the Aged people. The contest included drawing and essay writing competition both in Odia and English language. It was conducted on behalf of Help Age, India.

Five of our students had participated in ―Sit and Draw Competition‖ on the occasion of Pre Independence Day Celebration in Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Angul, They were escorted by Ms. Nibedita Nath, Teacher in Hindi. A skit on Quit India Movement was presented by a few students of class VII to mark the 75 years of Quit India Movement. In addition to it certain other activities highlighting the significance of the movement were conducted in the school assembly.

The students of Ravi House bestowed some breath taking performances on the eve of Friendship Day. Songs, speeches, poems, instrumental music(keyboard) and a placard show parade were staged in the assembly. Friendship Bands and Cards were prepared by students as a part of their classroom activity on 4th of August, 2017.

National Youth Day was given due emphasis as well in the school assembly on 11th August 17.

―The midnight of August 15, 1947 is a memorable moment for every Indian on earth, as it is the time, when India gained Independence from the shackles of the mighty British‖. Our school unfurled the tri-colored Tiranga on 15th August 17 and paid due respect to the true patriots of the nation by emotional speeches in Hindi and English, a patriotic song in praise of our motherland and a dance programme. The mélange of events culminated with an inspiring speech by our Principal. The sports prizes were conferred on the winning athletes. Our NCC Contingent was declared best at the Independence Day celebration organized by Nalco on the same day.

An Inter house English Skit competition was organized on 18th August. Mahanadi and Ganges House were joint winners and Ravi House was the Runner-up.

―Know Your Scientist Quiz Competition‖ was held on 18th August 2017 for classes VI & VII to make the students aware about scientist and their field of study. Yamuna house was the winner with 170 points followed by Mahanadi house with 135 points, Ganges house with 125 points and Ravi house 85 points.

THE SCHOOL HAS HOSTED A STRING OF COMMOVING EVENTS WHERE STUDENTS & TEACHERS COLLUDED EQUALLY TO SOME BREATHTAKING PERFORMANCE & MEMORABLE MOMENTS FOR EVERYONE TO CHERISH FOR A LONG TIME.

In keeping with the need of VANOMAHOSTAV, our Principal Dr. B.K. Mishra planted a sapling presented to the school by Nalco on the school premises.

Lord Ganesha symbolises prosperity and immense wisdom. It was heartening to watch devotional songs and a short skit with cultural and devotional elegance titled ‗ WHO IS GREAT‘ by students of Mahanadi House .

The first batch of Forty, out of the seventy two selected students of class XI participated in the Environmental Awareness Programme organized by SATOKOSIA WILD LIFE DIVISION, ANGUL. The activities involved Brain-storming sessions on Wild Life preservation, and effects of pollution along with a trek to the SATOKOSIA SANCTUARY. The team was led by Mr. L. Swain PGT(BIO), Ms. Sukeshini Mishra and Mr. S. B Jena.

WILD LIFE PRESERVATION WORKSHOP (27TH AUGUST 2017)

‗Save Tigers‘ being the motto, students of Mahanadi House came up with yet another inspiring and emulating short skit ‗Estranged relationship between man and tiger.‘ To raise awareness and knowledge about tiger conservation, various classroom activities were conducted including Poster Making and Group Discussions highlighting the theme ‗PROJECT TIGER.‘

Senior Citizens‘ Day was celebrated on 8th of August to perpetuate the vibrance of senior citizens. Students of Yamuna house worked in an organized manner and performed to perfection a skit in Hindi – ‗Dadaji kay Chashma‘. Another captivating performance by students of class 4.

Our mentors celebrated the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India, Bharat Ratna Awardee & one of the most influential scholars of comparative religion & philosophy. The roles of the teachers and the students were swapped. Teachers conducted morning assembly presenting Chorus, skits, speech, slokas and news. The Head Boy, Master Ayaskant Bal graced the morning assembly as the Principal of the day..

A few rounds of Antakshari brought the best out of the teachers and fun started rolling in the hall with dance, games and songs. With a pledge of being a true mentor and a perfect role model for the students, the event became yet another pleasant memory. Our teachers were welcomed and felicitated with the saplings and treated to a Grand Luncheon Party.

Hindi recitation week was observed by Nursery children for four days . Children from each section recited different Hindi rhymes with proper action and voice modulation that made the children stage free and helped them to overcome their introvert nature .

Healthy food day was celebrated on 6th September to make the children aware of the effect of junk food & to cultivate the healthy food habit among them.

Dr. B. K. Mishra conducted a workshop on Safety & Security on school campus at DIG (Police) office , Angul and at School. Various Safety measures & matters of concern and ways & means to combat such issues were discussed .

The threats of online Blue Whale Game on the life of youth shook the nation. Keeping the anxiety of the parents and the teachers Dr. B. K. Mishra made suggestion to sensitize students against the menace.
