    Introduction

    Quantum Cryptography, utilizing unintuitive Laws of Quantum mechanics provides us a theoretically sound and interesting

    Cryptographic Methodology for future communication system.

    Electromagnetic waves such as light waves can exhibit the phenomenon ofpolarization, in which the direction of the electric

    field vibrations is constant or varies in some definite way.

    According to Quantum theory, light waves are propagated as discrete particles known as photons. A photon is a mass less

    particle, the quantum of the electromagnetic field, carrying energy, momentum, and angular momentum(or spin). The

    polarization of the light is determined by the direction of the angular momentum of the photons. Therefore, spin carries the

    polarizationstate which can be conferred as Quantum Information.

    The foundation of Quantum Cryptography lies in the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, which states that "locating a particle

    in a small region of space makes the momentum of the particle uncertain; and conversely, measuring the momentum

    of a particle precisely makes the position uncertain."

    This implies when measuring the polarization of a photon, the choice of what direction to measure affects all subsequent

    measurements.
