Best Deck supplies premium composite wood products in South Africa and to various other countries in Africa. Based in Johannesburg, it is a partnership between Gary Fisher and Stuart Martin; who have a combined experience of more than 50 years in the composite wood industry.

Gary has been involved with manufacturing and importing composite wood products for more than 20 years. Stuart has earned a fantastic reputation as a prominent building developer in Gauteng since the mid-1990’s. To date, he has built more than 600 beautiful homes. Together, Stuart and Gary form a driven team that strives for the very best results.

Best Deck is one of very few composite wood companies that import, supply and install our own products. We oversee and take responsibility for our projects from start to finish. In addition, Best Deck is able to supply our products to independent contractors nationally and internationally.

STEYN CITY BASE 1 – JOHANNESBURGBest Deck has received the ultimate accolade. Our crowning achievement to date is Steyn City Base 1, where Best Deck is prominent in the residential housing. Steyn City Base 1 is literally a new city and is potentially the largest construction project going on in SA at present. Best Deck has been contracted by GD Irons through a vigorous and intense tender process and has been awarded this prestigious project. Best Deck has been contracted to install approximately 3000m2 of composite products that includes 1500m2 of decking, 1000m2 of pergolas and 1000m2 of screens, balustrades and post cladding. This is possibly the largest composite wood project ever awarded in SA. Base 1 is the first of four bases.

UMHLANGA ARCH – KWAZULU-NATALThis impressive building is situated in the perfect position in the heart of Umhlanga, with its unmistakable glass arch through the centre of the structure. Best Deck is contracted by WBHO to supply and install over 1500m2 of composite wood decking. This high-rise apartment building with its penthouse apartments on the 22nd floor will be completely “Best Decked”. In addition to the high-rise apartments, this building is also home to a Hilton Hotel with commercial and retail space. Best Deck is evident in all of these aspects, specifically in the deck that has been built where BMW has opened SMG Umhlanga. This is, without doubt, their most prestigious branch to date.

GROWTHPOINT, WOODMEAD – JOHANNESBURGBest Deck is contracted by GrowthPoint to remove 750m2 of a timber deck structure and timber decking that have come to the end of their life. Best Deck is replacing all of this with a new lightweight galvanised steel structure and our Gold Range 15-year guarantee composite wood decking. GrowthPoint is extremely happy with what has been done thus far and has now contacted Best Deck to start on phase two.

At Best Deck, we take complex projects in our stride. This penthouse project in Sandton, Johannesburg, was an extremely complicated project. There were no straight lines; everything was built on curves and specific radiuses.

In addition to the complicated deck were the challenging working conditions, as this was on the 22nd floor of an apartment building. The beautiful pergola also came with its own set of challenges.

However, with the correct engineering and dedicated staff, we achieved the desired result. Our client paid us the ultimate compliment when she said that we had far outdone her expectations. Client satisfaction is a key part of the Best Deck philosophy.

Best Deck was awarded the opportunity to supply and install the composite wood wall cladding for Rockets at The Hobart Grove Centre in Bryanston, Johannesburg, by Abbeydale Building & Civil. The aesthetic appeal of composite wood wall cladding is massive. In addition, a cladding plank is maintenance-free, lightweight, easy to install and cost-effective. It also has a textured brushed finish and a 10-year guarantee.

Transform any dull, damp, peeling or worn-out walls with these stylish cladding planks. They can also be used for cladding lightweight framed structures and as shipping container cladding for residential units and commercial applications (a trend that is gaining momentum). There are five colours available, which means being able to choose the perfect colour to achieve the desired end result.

Most of our composite wood profiles can be used for more than one application.

Shade Screens: The Route 21 Business Park in Pretoria used Best Deck’s finishing fascia plank to create shade screens over the windows. These screens are aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. We are also able to build various types of functional privacy and sliding screens, as well as pergolas using this profile material (see an example on page two of this brochure).

Screen Walling: We use our wider fascia plank to increase the height of the boundary walls between properties for additional privacy. This type of walling solution is becoming more and more popular because it is maintenance-free, cost-effective and efficient to install. It works well in residential complexes where boundary walls are low and an alternative solution to brick and mortar is required. Various colour options are available.

Our Guarantee is SIMPLE, Just Like our NameThere are no grey areas with us and you don’t have to sift through pages of information to make sure that you get the guarantee sold to you. Each product profile is designed for a specific function and application. There are also add-on applications for most, if not all, of these profiles. For example, a deck fascia plank that is used to close off a deck structure can also be used in one or more of our pergola applications. That profile will still carry its guarantee because it carries the same installation requirements when it comes to the supporting framework and fixing of the planks. So, provided the product has been installed according that profile’s full installation specifications, you and your Best Deck products are guaranteed.

What Does Our No-Nonsense Guarantee Cover?• The product guarantee is valid as long as it is installed according to its specific installation requirements. • Our products are valid from the date of purchase. • Our product installation specifications are on our website. If you are not sure, please ask us. We will gladly advise and assist

you. • AN IMPORTANT TIP: With the exception of some of our pergola profiles, all other profiles must be supported for your

guarantee to be in place. This should be done at every 350mm from centre of support to centre of support. On commercial decking projects, we reduce that to 300mm centre to centre of joist.

What Does our No-Nonsense Guarantee NOT Cover?• Our products are not guaranteed if they are used for an application for which they are not designed or intended. • If you have not installed that product according to its installation specifications, we cannot guarantee it. • If Best Deck must honour our guarantee, it is to replace that product profile and not to re-install it. To date (February 2020),

after almost a decade of our products coming into the country, we have never had to call on our manufacturer to replace any product.

• Best Deck will do a site inspection to asses a situation before replacing any product.

Best Deck’s Peace Of Mind No-Nonsense Guarantee• Best Deck either supplies our products to a competent and approved contractor to install, or we use our own installation arm,

Composite Ingenuity. If a contractor is using Best Deck products, you know you are buying quality.• Composite Ingenuity offers a turnkey project from start to finish. We take responsibility for the entire scope of the composite

aspect of that specific project. We do this in most areas around SA and into Africa. • Composite Ingenuity is also run by Gary and Stuart, who are hands-on with contract managers reporting back to them. • Despite our quality products and commitment to service, there may still be some issues that arise on a project from time to

time. If they do, send Best Deck an email and, within 72 hours, there will be a plan of action in place. Best Deck’s maintenance team will take action as soon as possible.
