Techno Metal Post Alaska is a Homer, Alaska based helical pier installation business. Helical piers are the next evolutionary step in steel piles, as they are non-susceptible to frost and can be designed and installed to meet precise engineering requirements. TMP AK is Alaska’s largest installer of helical piers and we have worked from Southeast Alaska to the Bering Sea installing piers for all types of projects in all types of conditions. Qualifications Company: TMP AK is affiliated with our worldwide network of dealers and installers with over one million piles installed with our specialized equipment. With our versatile products and equipment, we can support just about any project in any environment. Weighing 1600 lbs, our specialized R2D installation machine is capable of installing piles able to support 25,000 lbs. Owner: David Northup has worked in construction throughout Alaska for over 15 years, including a substantial amount of remote work. Over a 8 year period was hired as an NPS employee and independent contractor for remote coastal building projects in Lake Clark National Park. Has a proven track record of completing complex projects in remote locations throughout Alaska. Helical Piers: With shallower embedment and precise engineering, helical piers are a superior and more economical choice for pile supported structures. The helical pier is the only steel pile guaranteed against settling and lifting due to seasonal freeze/thaw cycles. By utilizing the helix, the helical pier can be designed in a manner to reduce steel size, cost and shipping costs for the project. TMP’s exclusive frost sleeve keeps frozen and expanding ground from freezing to the pile and lifting with the pile. TMP can manufacture any type of pile cap or bracket as dictated by the project, providing all related steel for any project. Specialized Skills Our single person operated R2D is the most versatile helical pier/driven pile machine in Alaska. At 1600 LBS and 3’ width it can go just about anywhere. With 4 machines in Alaska, we can apply the needed resources to quickly complete projects, reducing labor and lodging expenses for the project. Our light footprint, reduces shipping/mobilization costs, and allows for the operation around existing infrastructure saving unnecessary site and environmental impacts. Our proprietary ground thawing technology allows for easy winter pier installation. Each pier location requires a 10 minute thawing cycle where we drill a 1½” hole and install a heated rod that only thaws the immediate area (6-10”) where the pier will be installed. The thawing procedure adds no additional costs to the project and is minimally invasive to the areas directly adjacent to the pier. All of our hydraulic equipment is operated with vegetable based fluids, reducing harm in the unlikely event of a spill. Our piers’ installation and engineering information can be tracked and recorded for the project’s engineer, with our GPS digital monitoring system.
