Introducing the Paley-James Project Two Artists Work as One for a Very Skilled Cause
A mutual love of fire, steel and the common desire to pay it forward has created the Paley-James Project, an inspiring and unique collaboration to raise money for grants and educational opportunities for the metal working trades.
Albert Paley has a Master of Fine Arts in goldsmithing and holds an endowed chair at the Rochester Institute of Technology. His works include jewelry, gates, large-scale public sculptures and major architectural commissions. And then there’s West Coast Choppers’ founder Jesse James, whose recent efforts include custom firearms and chef knives. Now working together for a great cause, Paley and James are each creating a sculpture for the other to finish. The works will remain hidden from the public until the sculptures are unveiled at FABTECH 2017.
Two weeks later, Wright Auction House in Chicago will auction the sculptures with the proceeds supporting efforts of the educational foundations of the FABTECH show co-sponsors: AWS, CCAI, FMA, PMA and SME. No one knows how much money the sculptures will raise, but consider that a pair of Paley candle holders will set you back about $6,000, and James’ chef knives with an engraved Damascus steel handle start at $2,800.
Like the artists, ESAB believes that future of metal working requires supporting the skilled trades. So that the auction can raise the most money possible for scholarships, ESAB asks its distribution partners and valued customers to help spread the word about the Paley-James Project.

SUREWELD® 10P/10P PLUSSince Renegade has got the drive to run cellulosic rods, you need a premium electrode in your stinger – Sureweld 10P and 10P Plus.
n Sureweld 10P Plus has a more consistent burn-off and more forgiving arc burn to provide a better bead profile and sidewall fusion with low spatter. It will maintain the proper keyhole in an open root and will produce X-ray quality joints in all positions.

ESAB introduces a next-generation beveling system that delivers significant performance improvement through a simple, compact design. The DMX Beveller cuts the full range of weld preparations, including V, Y, X, and K bevels, with cut angles up to 45° on materials up to 50 mm.
DIRECT DRIVE MOTIONThe DMX Beveller uses direct drive motors to reduce complexity, eliminate the need for breakaway crash protection and deliver responsive, accurate positioning. The direct drive design eliminates gearboxes, belts, pulleys, limit switches and exposed cables. Further, DMX employs Compound Motion for faster cycle times, no rotation limits and longer consumables life. The end result is an ultra ef�cient plasma beveller that requires less maintenance and enhances output.
ENHANCED RELIABILITYThe Direct Multi aXis motion system (DMX) features Advanced Collision Sensing that detects and absorbs a torch crash, then automatically resets the torch without requiring head alignment.

NEW ARISTO FEED 4004HDThis new heavy-duty feeder uses the same proven mechanical design and heavy-duty components to reduce cost of operation by up to 50 percent or more because of its drive roll design, which combines two lower gear-driven rollers with two upper idler/smooth pressure rollers. The Aristo Feed 4004HD is available with ESAB’s U6 control panel (60 pre-programmed synergic lines) or the highly advanced U82 Plus control panel, which offers 250 pre-programmed synergic lines and ESAB’s patented SuperPulse™ process.
PULSED MIG SIMPLIFIEDUsers asked for a highly intuitive panel, and we delivered with the new MA25 Pulse Panel option for the Aristo Feed 3004. The MA25 Aluminum Panel features 30 pre-programmed synergic lines for aluminum, and the MA25 Steel/Stainless Panel features 54 synergic lines for solid and cored wires. With the MA25, operators can start welding in less than 30 seconds and enjoy optimized arc performance with no advanced process knowledge required.
IMPROVED ARISTO FEED 3004We gave this medium-duty wire feeder a more robust wire feed motor that providers higher torque and runs cooler and quietly. An integrated encoder provides consistent wire feed speeds. A new drive roll stand delivers excellent feed roll alignment for easier feeding, less debris generation, longer feed roll life a reduced stress on the wire feed motor. In applications where a medium-duty feeder makes sense, the Aristo Feed 3004 offers an intelligent and economic option.
ENHANCED ARISTO MIG 4004i PULSEIf you can weld it, you can weld it better — and more profitably — with the multiprocess Aristo Mig 4004i Pulse and Aristo Mig 5000i. The Aristo MIG 4004i Pulse, which offers a 400-amp output @ 60 percent duty cycle, now features quicker responding hardware for better arc performance, a new start parameter for more positive arc starts, Short Circuit Termination (SCT) for better weld termination/arc starts and more rugged components for longe life. For welding with larger diameter wires or at higher outputs, choose the Aristo 5000i, which has a rated output of 500 amps @ 60 percent duty cycle.
