Having continuously operated in the Kurdistan Region ever since, QANDIL’s main priorities of work are construction and infrastructure activities, refugee and IDP initiatives, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, and capacity building. The Arabic and Kurdish Teacher will play a leading role in the implementation of QANDIL and GIZ’s Social Support and Life Skill Project’ in Darashakran Refugee camp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will assist in the creation of classroom materials, design of curriculum and teaching of a Basic Arabic and Kurdish Course for both adults and children. The successful candidate should have experience in teaching Arabic and Kurdish as a second language, particular to Arabic speakers, as well as an awareness of protection issues and appropriate teaching strategies for aiding pupils with trauma. The course will run for 15 days, therefore it is highly desirable that the course curriculum emphasizes learning outside of the classroom and motivates participants to continue their education beyond the duration of the course. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and tracking the progress of pupils and reporting this to the Project Coordinator and Project Reporting Officer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design curriculum to be implemented over 15 days, must be both adult and child friendly Design individual lessons that engage participants and build language knowledge and retention. Monitoring the overall progress of students, identifying and creating strategies to assist participants who are struggling. Creating tools that allow learners to continue their education outside of classroom settings, both during the course and after it has been completed. Working with the Reporting Officer and Project Coordinator to collect timely data on the participants and use this for the overall reporting. Attend relevant meetings to identify gaps and to improve QANDIL’s capacity to respond to future needs for the project.
