Date: Page: Pymble Ladies’ College Junior School Parent Group (JSPG) MINUTES Meeting: JSPG Term 4 Meeting Date: Thursday 16 October, 2014 Time: 9.00am 10.00am Location: Junior School Library DETAILS 1.0 WELCOME BY GROUP LEADER Group Leader, Raj Narayan welcomed everyone to the meeting. Raj discussed the funds raised from the 33 events held in 2014 which have been for both fun and for charity. There have been 29 convenors for these events with 16 convenors being first time convenors, three of whom were new Pymble parents. 220 volunteers assisted and the JSPG currently has funds amounting to $45,000. Raj thanked everyone for their help and acknowledged the following people with a small gift: Stephanie Tan, Larrisa Harris, Sam Yee, Jane Browning, Claudine Townsley, Mary Hassall, Claire Rutledge, Roopa Mehta, Indira Kathirgamalingam, Gill Angus Raj presented a cheque for $10,000 to the Head of Junior School, Mrs Sue Knox from the JSPG committee. Raj also presented a gift to Mrs Annie Nor-Smith and thanked her for her help. Helen Holobrodskyj received flowers and Mrs Sue Knox received flowers and a gift voucher as thanks for all her help.     3.0 HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL PRESENTATION – MRS SUE KNOX

    Mrs Knox gave an overview of 2014 in the Junior School and said that the parents were the heart and soul of the Junior School.

    Mrs Knox said she has been talking to the girls about the theme “Making a Difference” with the girls raising $3,000 so far this year for numerous charities.

    Mrs Knox said with the $3,000 funds raised from Genes for Jeans day a Centenary brick was purchased by the girls – Junior School 2014.

    Teachers are working hard on mathematics with the new mathematics syllabus to be introduced in 2015. The new Science syllabus will be also implemented next year. The new English syllabus was implemented this year.

    The girls have been keeping a reflective diary with goal setting this year.

    The new learning space results this year have been incredible – with new closed-in focus rooms added over the spring holidays.

    The Year 6 rooms will be converted to flexible learning spaces during the Christmas holiday period.

    Mrs Knox gave a presentation showcasing the various activities that have taken place in the Junior School. This can be found at the end of these minutes.

    Mrs Knox thanked the parents for all their help this year and presented the 2014 JSPG Committee with flowers.

    Mrs Knox thanked Group Leader Raj Narayan and said she has been an exceptional leader.

    6.0 PPA PRESIDENTS REPORT – KYLIE MACDONALD

    Kylie MacDonald has had four meetings with Principal, Mrs Vicki Waters this year. Kylie has also met with the wellbeing committee.

    Kylie talked about the Pymble cookbook which is a major fundraiser for this year.

    Kylie welcomed the incoming 2015 JSPG Committee and thanked the outgoing committee.

    7.0 FINANCE CO-ORDINATOR REPORT

    Claudine Townsley said as of Tuesday 30 September the JSPG had funds of $45,000 with $10,000 presented to the Junior School.

    We have not lost any money on any event this year.

    8.0 PARENT’S PRAYER GROUP – GREER DOKMANOVIC

    Mrs Dokmanovic talked about a new venture at the school the Pymble Parent Prayer Group. The group meets fortnightly on Tuesdays Week A from 8.00am till 8.30am in Mrs Dokmanovic’s office which is at the top of the music rooms.

    The group prays for the College community, all prayer requests are kept confidential within the group. If you would like more information or would like to make a prayer request please email Greer Dokmanovic.
