This document contains a description of the design of an inverter station for units in inverter series SINVERT PVS500.

The inverter station comprises an inverter room, a transformer room and a medium-voltage room (optional).

2.1 Material

Permissible materials for the container are listed below: • Steel • Concrete

The container material must have a guaranteed minimum lifetime of 25 years.

2.2 Container design

The container comprises the following components:

2x inverter

1x AC cabinet

1x medium-voltage transformer

1x medium-voltage switchgear (optional)

The container dimensions are specified below:

Length (external): 6700 mm

Width (external): 3000 mm

Height (external): 3250 mm

Internal height: 2600 mm

Minimum height Cable compartment: 300 mm

General design:

Degree of protection: IP54

Container floor: The floor must have a load-bearing capacity of approximately 10 t inventory.

Steel channels at false floor height for cabinet installation,

with 4 holes of 16 mm diameter per cabinet

Base plates: The base plates must be coated, removable and lockable.

If pressure-relief openings are provided in the false floor, the base plates must be locked to prevent lifting!

Container false floor: With false floor, clear height > 170 mm, without thermal insulation

Access in aisle via removable base plates

Upper edge of aisle flush with mounting surface of cabinets

Partitions:

2 partitions as shown in Figure 1 in false floor area cable openings

Openings in partitions:

Opening in the false floor with aluminum plates between inverter room and transformer room

Inverter room: 1 x opening 1200x1214mm for air filter or supply air fan in the inverter room with drill holes and bracing elements provided for mount-ing.

4 x opening 488x1255 for extracted air above the inverters with external louvers

Transformer room: 1x opening 488x488mm for fans

MV room: 2x opening 450x500mm for pressure-relief flaps

Roof: Rainproof, dimensioned for 150 kg/m²

Grounding points / grounding bar:

6 grounding points in the container and a grounding bar in the transformer room for 8 connections

External ground con-nection:

2 M12 stainless steel screws, in steel plates, arranged diagonally at two cor-ners of the container frame

Foundations (for in-formation only)

Strip or post foundations, provided by the customer

Lightning protection: By means of lightning spikes at every corner of the container

Supplementary design of steel container:

Type of construction: Fully welded with trapezoidal plates

4 x ISO corners on the base and 4 x at the top

Crane suspension points on the roof

Thermal insulation: By means of PU panels, with galvanized plates, coated with RAL7035,

Panel thickness roof = 60 mm

Paint finish: Thickness of external/internal coats 120 / 80 µm (Thickness of external coats depending on local environmental conditions)

2.3 Inverter room design

The inverter room comprises the following components:

2x inverter (WxHxD = 2700mm x 2100 mm x 700 mm / 1965 kg)

1x AC cabinet (WxHxD = 600 mm x 2000 mm x 600 mm / approx. 400 kg) Equipment:

• Socket outlets on the door • Light switch on the door • Lighting Luminaires 2 x 2 x 58 W • Smoke detector (optional) • Thermostatically controlled heater for frost protection 2 kW, 230 V (optional) • Container temperature sensor • Warning notice: "In order to ensure a safe escape route, do not open the doors of more than one inverter at a

time!“

Door: • Width/height, e.g. 1100 mm/2400 mm clearance dimension (door size suitably dimensioned to allow future

replacement of a complete inverter subunit) • Single-leaf aluminum door • Locking system (with panic lock with knob on outside, latchkey on inside) • Doors must open outwards

Openings in floor: • 1 x 300x300 mm below the AC cabinet • 4 x 600x180 mm below the inverters

The inverter room dimensions are specified below:

Length (internal): 3900 mm

Width (internal): 2800 mm

Height (internal): 2600 mm

Minimum aisle width: 1240 mm

2.4 Transformer room design

The MV transformer room must be designed to accommodate an oil-immersed or a cast-resin transformer. • 1000 kVA transformer (with casters) • Dimensions (approx.): Length: 1,800 mm

Width: 990 mm Height: 2,180 mm

• Total weight: Approx. 4,000 kg

Equipment: • Light switch on the door • Lighting Luminaires 1 x 2 x 58 W • Transformer rails with side track limits • Removable red warning strip directly behind the door to protect personnel • Doors must open outwards • Fire protection, water pollution control measures, etc. for oil-immersed transformers (oil drip tray, e.g. made

of sheet steel, with oil-tight welds)

Door: • Width/height, e.g. 1100 mm/2400 mm clearance dimension (door size suitably dimensioned to allow future

replacement of an MV transformer) • Single-leaf aluminum door • Locking system (with panic lock with knob on outside, latchkey on inside) • With ventilation elements

Openings in floor: • 2 x 500x300 mm

The load assumptions for the cable support racks must be taken into account and suitable cable fasteners must be provided.

The minimum transformer room dimensions are specified below:

Length (internal): 2370 mm

Width (internal): 1540 mm

Height (internal): The room should be at least 50 cm higher than the maximum height of the transformer.

2.5 Switchgear room design (optional)

Installation of MV switchgear is optional. The container is capable of accommodating air-insulated or SF6-insulated switchgear, e.g. Siemens 8DJH, 2-4 panels, height 1400mm.

Equipment: • Socket outlets on the door • Light switch on the door • Lighting Luminaires 1 x 2 x 58 W • Pressure-relief openings with appropriate air ducts, expanded metal grids, etc. must be provided.

The dimensions of the necessary pressure-relief openings depend on the type of switchgear and the short-circuit current.

Door: • Width/height, e.g. 1110 mm/2400 mm clearance dimension (door size suitably dimensioned to allow future

replacement of switchgear) • Locking system (with panic lock)

2.6 Arrangement of components

The control cabinets have a predefined geometric arrangement which is determined directly by the ventilation openings. Details can be seen in the sketch below.

2.7 Ventilation (air supply and extraction)

The air supply and air extraction systems of the inverter room and transformer room are mutually decoupled.

Inverter room:

Air enters the room through a supply air opening in the container side wall.

The air requirement of the inverter room is approximately 13,000 m³/h.

Without air-filter:

2 centrifugal fans (K3G 355-AX56 -02, supplied by ebmpapst) are required. • Supply air opening with supply air fan and external louvers • Fan control in the AC cabinet • Outlet-air openings above the INV cabinets on side walls (opening 4 x 488 mm x 1255 mm) • Exhaust air from the PV INV is transported through fan shrouds to outlet-air openings • Fan shrouds and sealing material are available as accessories • External louvers for outlet-air openings • Order kit: Fan shroud for PVS500 (shrouds, fastening elements and sealing material)

With air-filter:

4 centrifugal fans (K3G 355-AX56 -02, supplied by ebmpapst) are required. • Supply air opening with external air filter with integrated fan • Fan control in the AC cabinet • Outlet-air openings above the INV cabinets on side walls (opening 4 x 488 mm x 1255 mm) • Exhaust air from the PV INV is transported through fan shrouds to outlet-air openings • Fan shrouds and sealing material are available as accessories • External louvers for outlet-air openings • Order kit: Fan shroud for PVS500 (shrouds, fastening elements and sealing material)

2.8 Electrical connection

The basic interconnection between components can be seen in the circuit diagram below.

The power cables in the container are installed either in the cable vault or cable floor (see minimum height of cable vault/floor)
