Nanowires of the title compounds are synthesized solvother- mally in the presence of poly(vinyl alcohol) from a mixture of Cd(NO 3 ) 2 , Na 2 SeO 3 or K 2 TeO 3 ,H 2 O, and en (autoclave, 160 or 180 C, 6–15 d). The samples are characterized by XRD and TEM. In this process, the temperature is the main factor determining the structure of the nanowires. The prepared samples are predominantly in zinc blende form. Poly(vinyl alcohol) plays an important role in the formation of the nanowires attributed to promoting the oriented attachment growth under solvothermal conditions. — (YANG, QING; TANG, KAIBIN; WANG, CHUNRUI; QIAN, YITAI; ZHANG, SHUYUAN; J.
