SPOTLIGHT ON... SCHOOL NEWS

HEAD BOY AND GIRL. The head boy and girl at Whaplode pri-

mary school are Jack and Jade. An in-

teresting fact about them is that Jade

is now deputy head and Jack is assis-

tant deputy head. When Jade found

out that she was head girl she said

"I Can't believe it I thought it would

be one of my other friends," When

Jack found out that he was head boy

he said "I was very surprised and

happy," By Lexie.

House Captains

House Captains are people who count up house points at the end of the

week; its kind of like the houses in harry potter. you can only gain

points at school and not lose them. whichever house wins, gets a prize.

it can be anything you want; as long as your house captain agrees.

EVENTS SCHOOL VALUES

COURAGE: To me courage means to face

your fear and even if it's extremely scary,

carry on!! At school you would use courage

for stuff like: 11 plus, top table, starting a

new class, worship council and now here's

a few examples by some school pupils." I

think when you're doing a class assembly

and every one is staring at you, I know

scary right!" By Maddison." My first day

running newspaper club, it was really

scary. But now, it's not scary." By Mrs

Roulstone." When ks2 boys do not flush

the toilets, LOL :)" By Miss Cotes."

When people do not wash their hands

but then they touch me, eew."

By Rohan!!

Forgiveness: Forgiveness

means that you stop worry-

ing about something some-

one has done. If someone

bumps into you in the corri-

dor you should forgive

them and not get upset

about it. By Rosie

Perseverance: Persever-

ance is very important to

this school as it encourages

us to try our best in all les-

sons. Perseverance means

that you keep doing some-

thing even though it is

hard. By Joseph

Hope: Hope is the feeling for some-

thing to go right or for something to

happen. All of the teachers hope that

the children will understand what

they are talking about. By Jenna

Respect: Respect means

that you care for other people

and their property. It is good

to show respect to others as

it will make them happy and

their things will stay safe.

You can also show respect by

helping others with their

work. By Ben

APOLOGY. APOLOGY.

We congratulate him on

MacMillan coffee

morning

On the 25th of September we

had a MacMillan coffee morning

here at school. We served people

of the local area and even bought

cakes and drinks ourselves. We

are very happy of the amount of

money that came in. We raised

£193.39, we are happy we raised

money for a good cause. By

Jenna, Lexie & Lilly

Stand Up To Cancer: Non-uniform Day: Our Stand Up For Cancer non-uniform day

raised £206.25. A big thank you to everyone who donated.

Work on the School.

Some men have been working on the

school and putting in pipes for new

heating. A few days ago a man made a

new bike stand, children were very

amazed with it. By Alex

Compassion: Compassion

means sympathy, pity or con-

cerns or the suffering or misfor-

tune of others. Lily thinks that

compassion is to help someone

that is suffering. Lexie thinks

that compassion is where you

love and care for others

SCHOOL NEWS STORY CORNER

"Eeeeeek!" Screamed Ginny, who was flying about like mad. "I'm 7, I'm 7! Wake

up Mum, wake up Dad! I want to open my presents!”

Ginny was a ghost, born a ghost, living a ghost. She was turning 7. She was going

to have a big party with all her friends: Frany Stien, Howler werewolf, Fangster

Vampire and many more. It was going be amazing!

As Ginny went down stairs, she saw lots of princess decorations. All the ones she

asked for. "Slow down sweetie, we can't catch up." Shouted Ginny's Mum. "Little

princesses need their Mum and Dad!" Ginny was far too excited to hear. Her heart

was beating fast: what would she get? Would she like it? Had everyone got her

something? As she flew into the kitchen, she noticed a banner that said: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINNY! “Mum, what does that say?" Ginny asked.

"Happy birthday, sweetie!" Mum answered.

Soon after breakfast (which was Ginny's favourite: a bowl of eyeballs with milk)

she started to get ready for the party.

She couldn’t decide what to wear: green, purple, orange, black, white or grey.

“How about the white? It would definitely suit you!” advised her farther. Ginny

giggled as she wriggled into her white dress.

One hour later, Olivia arrived (Olivia was a witch) in beautiful blue. Then Frany

got there in gorgeous green. Next Fangster showed up, holding a sun shade.

“When does the sun go set, set, set?” he hissed. Next Howler came in her human

form. Then came a wizard named Sony, who loved everyone. The party was all set

to go, but where was Xavier? Just after the sun had set, a skeleton’s silhouette

walked towards them. Xavier!

Presents were opened, food was eaten and as Ginny was taken to the dance floor

(at exactly twelve pm) by Xavier, she knew it was best day ever!

Think about your best day ever as you walk through the street ‘trick or treating’.

GINNY’S PARTY BY ROSIE

WORSHIP COUNCIL

Worship council is about improving collective worship in our school.

There are 8 members, 2 from each ks2 class. We meet twice a week, in

the rainbow room with Mrs Flack and Mrs Adie. We have had a meeting

about improving the reflecting areas in every single class room. Each

reflecting area needs to have: the holy trinity, a bible, a cross, the

school motto which is 'Inspire, Believe, Achieve'.

We have performed a play similar to the boy who cried wolf with the

message 'don't tell lies!'.

New sports equipment

There are 4 new pieces of

equipment that are used for

exercise and are fun to use.

Whaplode Wow! journalists include new faces and old.

We are pleased to have back Joseph, Lily and Lexie; and to

welcome Jenna from Year 6. Year 5 journalists are the

long-suffering Rosie and Evie, joined this year by Rohan

and Henry. We are delighted to be joined by Ben and

Madison from Year 4 and as always honourary member

Alex, sits and behaves whilst waiting for his family. This

year he has contributed a small update for the newspaper

and we hope to encourage him to continue to contribute for

us. We hope you enjoy the paper and please feel free to

make suggestions for articles and topics. Thanks for read-

ing. The Editor.

Year 5 spent a day with Act II learning the

songs for Joseph and The Amazing Technicol-

our Dreamcoat. They then had the opportunity

to perform it with Redeemed at St Mary’s

Church in Whaplode. They were amazing and a

credit to the school. Well done everyone.
