I’m glad that I waited until today to give you this last message as it has enabled Emily, Joshua and me to enjoy a wonderful farewell on Sunday night. A wonderful occasion because so many friends were present and Jesus was supreme, but it was also a reminder that everything, as Ecclesiastes reminds us, is in God’s time. Looking around a packed church, I was reminded of how much I didn’t want to leave this circuit that I love, but also a reminder that Jesus is making the journey with us. Whether it is New Year, a new home or any new opportunity, we are encouraged to look forward, rightly so. We travel in faith serving through the Holy Spirit. But it is good to look back as well, at the journey we have made. The spiritual journey with you has been a time of many blessings, from holding the hands of dying comrades and grieving families, of golden weddings and new marriages to so many baptisms. As I said yesterday at the service, if a minister leaves for a new appointment having loved his church and completed a part of God’s plan, he or she and the Methodist people can experience those wonderful words, “Well done good and faithful servant,” I pray that you will all support your superintendent and share that same love with your new minister, Rev Sharon. God bless you all.

Weybourne Methodist Church

How wonderful was the Golden Moments Flower Festival!! It was my privilege to help every day, and have a delicious lunch, at very reasonable cost, and to enjoy the beauty of the arrangements. I found it very emotive, and congratulate all the arrangers. We kept selling out of the favourite displays of coasters and magnets. I hope lots of money was made.

On July 15th, at Weybourne chapel, we said farewell to David, who has served us so well for 5 years, and some of us went to the bring and share tea before the final service and presentation for David. We shall miss him.

A quiet month in August recouping energy, and then back to fund raising in September. Watch this space. Valerie

Leprosy Mission Stamp Box

TLM Stamps and Collectables Although the box and poster have vanished, we are still saving the stamps, coins etc. Please, if you see TLM box do return it to the table by the Foodbank board. Thank you .

Traidcraft Stall

In August the stall will be out after services on Friday 10th and Sundays the 5th and 19th.

Foodbank

Many thanks for last month's contributions of 55.38kg of food, which helped 7 people. Foodbank relies on donations, both food and financial, to operate and are extremely grateful for your support. If you would like to be involved in fundraising for Foodbank or would like one of the team to come to talk about their work, please see the website or notice board for contact details. The latest needs list is on the service sheet and notice board.

Gresham Methodist Chapel

On June 30th. we held a very successful Strawberry Tea at the chapel. Beautiful sunshine for all to enjoy. Thanks to the stall holders, kitchen staff and everyone who helped and supported us. Total raised for chapel funds was £300.

Then on the next day our Parish Church friends joined us for a United service. Thank you to Rev. Ruth Adamson for reading and to Rev. David for leading us. Two of our friends, Marian & Chris Sharp were celebrating 51 years of marriage on that day which was a special day for them and us to share. Tea, coffee and cake was served after the service.

We are sorry that our friend, Dennis, has not been well, but he is on the mend now. We look forward to hav-ing him back to share worship again

Joy.

Plant Stall...- Thank you for the array of plants, planters and pots delivered anonymously to the Flower Festival marquee. Most were labelled, which was a great help. Many thanks. B.D.

Post Flower Festival... Monday morning - 8.30 am - the day after the 2018 Flower Festival ended and once again flower arrangements were being tidied up with fresher looking flowers replacing slightly tired ones by a small group of people. By 10.30 am every nursing home in Sheringham had received a beautiful floral arrangement – to be enjoyed by all of the residents. We also ensured that bouquets were delivered to many of our house-bound members.

None of this would have been possible without the help of Audrey O'Neil, Kim Wordie & Kath Whiting, all of whom have the gift of not just arranging, but re-arranging flowers, My gratitude and thanks ..... I certainly could not have managed without you.

Thanks also to my wonderful husband who is always so willing to help in whatever way possible and delivered all the arrangements on our behalf.

… "What a Glorious Birthday…." `Thank you to Valerie, Jean & Keith and everyone from our Fellowship that gave me such a wonderful Birthday Party. Thank you Rosa, also Brenda and Helen, what a write up and beautiful flowers. Plus Wendy making the journey from Reepham. My thanks to Everyone.` Bridie ...To all Friends at St. Andrew`s and Gresham…. `Thank you all for the kindness you have shown us during Dennis`s spell in hospital. All your good wishes, cards and phone calls and offers of help and especially your prayers meant so much to us. We are indeed blessed to belong to two such caring churches.` With gratitude and love

Flower Festival

We hope you all enjoyed the "Golden Moments". Around 3,000 visitors came during the four days, including 4 coach parties on Thursday and another couple on the Friday as well as all the other visitors.

A very big THANK YOU to everyone who helped in any way - from all the background jobs - keeping the premises cared for, baking cakes, distributing publicity, preparing the premises to those working at the Festival with catering, on stalls, stewarding, car park attendants, first aiders and providing music, (one organist coming all the way from Manchester just to play for us!) not forgetting of course those who cleared up after the event and distributed flowers.

We especially thank all the flower arrangers who give so freely of their time and travel to make their wonderful displays.

On the questionnaire sheets - the friendliness and helpfulness of all the helpers was much commented on and appreciated by our visitors.

The festival raised a grand net total of £10,996.10, from which a donation of £1,100 was given to our festival charity of the year, Sheringham Lifeboat.

Thank you all. Rosa. (Church Steward)

Singing Praise Day

Thank you to all who supported our Singing Praise Day in May, and for your donations of over £400.00 for Cancer Research UK.

We are hoping to hold a Christmas Praise Day (probably not 50!) on Saturday December 15th and if you would like to suggest a Carol or Christmas hymn you would like to sing please let Christine Gooch have the title in writing before 23rd September.

Sorry to talk about Christmas so early but please put the date in your diary if you would like to join in. Christine

Safeguarding - Where are we now?

The Methodist Church wants all congregations to be reminded of the issues of Safeguarding and how important it is. The Church has listened and is responding and acknowledges there are victims for whom the experience of the past will never go away. A notice giving an update on what was recommended following the Past Cases Review, and the changes that have been put in place is displayed on the notice board in the small hall. We urge all members of the congregation to take time to read it.

More details on the right.

Photo 25th. January 1969

During the Flower Festival a lady kindly brought in for us to see this photo taken of the church just after it was built. If anyone else has early photos of it or of early years events, or of the previous chapels, I would be pleased to take copies off of them to put on our wall in the Large hall where for the Anniversary year we have a display of the church history so do have a look at it.
