Purpose of the Extra Mile Project: o The purpose of the Extra Mile Project is to involve a significantly larger percentage of the church family in the visitation program with a more flexible of a commitment by placing them on one of four different teams that meet just once a month. This ministry will improve the involvement in, quality, and effectiveness of our weekly visitation outreach. The Extra Mile Project will improve involvement. o Members of the Extra Mile Project will be asked to commit to once a month involvement. Where many members would be reluctant to commit their time every Tuesday night, they would be much more willing to commit to a once a month plan. The Extra Mile Project will improve quality. o The Extra Mile Project promotes quality time instead of quantity time. Although individuals will only be attending once a month, each week we will have a good number of people involved in many more areas of outreach than normal, improving the quality of our outreach. The Extra Mile Project will improve effectiveness. o Allowing members to be involved with a team, the Extra Mile Project will make them feel needed and important to the visitation program. Because of this, the Extra Mile Project will truly improve the overall effectiveness of our visitation program, not only in outreach, but also within the members of our church family. How the Extra Mile Project works: o Teams 4 different teams, one for each Tuesday of the month. Members of the teams will sign into one of the specified areas of outreach based on their own choosing or, in certain cases, where they are needed, and perform that task for an hour and a half. The six main areas of outreach which they could be involved in are as follows: Visits – which will consist of visitors, prospect members, hospital visits, E.E., Good Neighbor, Bus follow-ups, Three Mile Project, and others.(15 people) Letter Writing & Phone Calls – the letter writing will consist of writing letters for follow up visits, sympathy, weddings, newborns, inactive members, and others. Sample letters will be provided to use as guides. The phone calls will consist of calling individuals to inform them of a visit before the visit is made, to follow up on a visit where the person was not at home after two consecutive weeks, and reaching shut ins and prospective members. (5 people) Distribution – which will include canvassing for: Newsletters, R.U., V.B.S., Bus, Etc. (15 people) Nursery/Childcare – this will consist of providing child care in the nursery for newborns through the age of three or providing childcare in the FLC for four year olds through 6 th grade. ministry depending on where they are serving that night, and according to priority and also appropriateness for the individual.

o At the end of the hour of ministry, each team member will complete and turn in a report card on what was accomplished and important details. This will allow for us to know exactly what has been accomplished, have it on record, and know how to deal with each visit/contact in the future without confusion or conflict.
