Dear friends and all the well wishers of Punya, I am pleased to publish the third quarter edition of Punya Pragati. The report is a comprehensive articulation of all the information which a Punya donor would like to know about his contribution. This report makes a sincere effort to maintain highest level of quality and transparency of disclosures and is testimony to the strong foundation of Punya Education has an immense impact on the human society. It is the bedrock of social and economic development. It is also the fourth necessity for man after food, clothing and shelter, in today’s competitive world. Children are the future of a nation. For an emerging and developing country like India, development of underprivileged children holds the key to the progress of the nation itself. Through Punya, I envision the dream of quality education for all. The likes of Azim Premji, NRN Murthy, Sir Abdul Kalam, Anna Hazare and other stalwarts of Indian Society actively participate and demonstrate commitment to change our social system. If they can, then even we can take a bold step forward to do our bit to change the society. I was recently reading an article "Wealth Must Have A Definitive Social Purpose " by Azim Premji in Times of India and one lesson I personally learnt from it is that believing in oneself is the most important ingredient for success. Individually it may be hard to see what difference we can make, if we stick to the task with tenacity for a sustained action, it will surely work. Punya's last quarter fund raising efforts generated Rs. 13819 for the social development activites and executed two projects each in Chennai and Banglore with the help of the volunteers. A big thanks to our donors and volunteers without their support and trust, we wouldn’t have reached here today. I look forward to your comments/suggestions on this report.I wish you all happy days head! And please remember our commitment continues! In deep gratitude, I remain for your trust and support! Notebooks Donation Drive to Govt. School Students in the outskirt of Bangalore in association with Abilashalyam, Bangalore.

Mrs. Aruna Diwakar from Abilashalayam demonstrated her leadership qualities in executing the project from end to end with the support of Punya Volunteers (Sonika Jain and Ruchi Kosh). Event # 18 – Educational Scholarship to H.Divya, a 1st year B.com student from Chennai. Punya volunteer for this educational project is Rajiv Krishna who will track the progress of the student at regular intervals.

1. Punya Website Development

Raising funds has been a persistent headache for NGOs. Non governmental organizations working in fields related to education, unemployment, women and children's welfare and poverty often find that lack of visibility holds back their efforts at getting sponsorships. To take our message across to donors and sponsors, we need an effective website .Punya Tech Team is working with full commitment and dedication to built a great website for Punya. We expect to have a fully functional website to be up and running by Jan 1,2012.

2. Upcoming Educational Scholarship Projects in Chennai and Bangalore.

Punya will provide financial assistance for education to I.Divya a 2nd year Engg Student in Chennai who hails from a poor background. This case was referred to Mrs. Aruna Ravi, employee of World Bank, Chennai. Punya Volunteer will do a complete background check and then Punya Team will decide on this scholarship application. Punya will provide financial assistance in the form of educational scholarship to Pavan B a 1st Std Student who is an inmate of Abilashalayam, Bangalore - home where destitute children are being transformed to lead lives on their own and start helping ones in need of desperate care. Punya Volunteer will do a complete background check and then Punya Team will decide on this scholarship application.

Latest happenings and upcoming projects @ Punya



Volunteer for this month for Punya is Vishwanathan aka Sriram, an outright techie in its true sense. Interested in computer related technologies, especially in the areas of web designing, animation and web development, this guy is truly a genius. He also has a flair for classic cinema and is a good critic of movies. Apart from being a rockstar for Infosys in New Jersey, he also makes short films, one of which was named as, one of the top 10 short films aside Christopher Nolan's Short films by a famous English Daily in India. A splendid photographer, he has a true sense of art in his work. A genuine friend, a good mentor, and a kind at heart gentleman, has also taken up the responsibility of building the website for Punya.Way to Go Vishwa!
