Innovative and flexible pumpingsystems contribute to a flexible, smooth and cost-efficient opera-tion of tank terminals.

Screw pumps are used to anincreasing extent to transfer storedoil products. The versatility of thetwin-screw pump gives a hugeadvantage in operating a tank ter-minal, in comparison to conven-tional centrifugal pumps.

The big advantage is that oil prod-ucts of various quality and viscosi-ty, with varying differential pres-sure and suction conditions, canbe pumped without any problemwith only one pump type. Withtank terminals getting bigger andbigger, resulting in longer pipe

runs, centrifugal pumps are a lim-iting factor.

Twin-Screw pumps provide a virtu-ally constant capacity over a wideviscosity and pressure range.

New Compact Screw PumpWith the release of the L4NC pumpseries, Leistritz Pumpen GmbH hasresponded to these market develop-ments and presents a new genera-tion of slim and economic rotarypositive displacement pumps.

This pump series, which was espe-cially designed for tank terminalapplications, covers a wide rangeof areas and can also be perfectlyused in the chemical, petrochemi-cal and shipping industry as load-

ing or unloading, stripping andbooster pump.

The L4NC series is equipped with acasted steel casing with integratedpump liner and a side in – top-outarrangement with ASME or DINflanges. Leistritz has made no con-cession to its philosophy to manu-facture spindles from one piece ofmetal. Thus, they realise the con-cept with very low shaft deflection, resulting in a long service life ofbearings and shaft seals and ahigh efficiency.

The compact spindle length arearranged side by side to achievethe best possible lubrication of thebearings and timing gears. Moreover, the pumped media cansupport the spindles hydrodynami-cally to achieve the highest per-formance values, even withreduced pump sizes. Drive spindleand idler spindle are sealed byunbalanced or balanced, singleacting component or API cartridgeseals for easy maintenance. Sealmanufacturers, materials and the

detailed design are always selectedto match perfectly to the client’soperating conditions.

A wide range of L4NC pump sizescovers a flow rate up to 5000 m³/hand a differential pressure up to 20bar for various fluids such as crudeoil, bitumen, heavy and light fuel oil or other petrochemicalcompositions.

The series consists of seven pumpsizes, each with four pitch variants, offering an optimal selection perapplication.

With revealing the new and opti-mised L4NC pump, LeistritzPumpen GmbH creates a mile-stone in modern, efficient andcompact twin screw pump designwith reduced costs. This low capi-tal expenditure (CAPEX) combinedwith the high efficiencies and lowmaintenance work for optimisedoperational expenditure (OPEX)

are the results oflong-term devel-opment and wellfounded know-how. n
