    compare one thing with another

    My sister’s bedroom is tidier than mine.

    • Adjectives have different comparative forms:

    Short adjectives

    • they have one syllable and we add -er to make the comparative form of the adjective

    David is taller than Mike.

    Long adjectives

    • they have more than one syllable and we add more + the adjective

    A hotel is more expensive than a youth hostel.

    Irregular adjectives

    • good and bad are irregular adjectives and they have a different comparative form

    Spelling rules
