PaoloCottaRamusino isSecretaryGeneralofPugwashConferencesonScienceandWorldAffairs andMember of the Pugwash Executive Committee.He is Professor ofMathematicalPhysics at the University ofMilan. NicolaCufaroPetroni isatheoreticalphysicistandaprofessorofProbabilityandStatisticsattheDepartmentofMathematicsoftheUniversity"AldoMoro"inBari.Heisalsoamemberof the Interdepartmental Centre for PeaceResearch (CIRP) of the sameUniversity.HewasNational secretary of USPID from 2002 to 2011, and he is now amember of its ScientificCouncil.

Alessandro Pascolini is a theoretical physicist, senior scholar at the University of Padua,where he thought courses of theoretical physics and of arms and disarmament.He is vice-directorandteacherofUniversity’sMasterinScienceCommunicationandwasmemberoftheBoard of directors of University’s Centro d’ateneo dei diritti umani. His researches regardnuclear physics, technologies related to armaments and disarmament, and sciencecommunication.Forthelast30yearshehasbeenactiveinprojectsaimingtoraisingpublicawarenessofscienceinEurope;fortheseactivitieshehasbeenawardedtheOutreachPrize2004 of the European Physical Society. He takes part in the activities of the PugwashConferences on Science and World Affaires and is vice-president of the ISODARCOinternationalschoolondisarmamentandresearchonconflicts.HehasservedassecretaryoftheItalianPugwashgroupfrom1973to1990.

Alessio Pecorario is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in constitutional comparative law.Currently,he isanOfficialoftheDicasteryforPromotingIntegralHumanDevelopmentof theHoly See-Vatican City State. Previously, hewas a legal adviser of: theFinancial IntelligenceAuthority(HolySee-VaticanCityState);theEuropeanCentreforLawandJustice(Strasbourg)and the European Commission for Democracy through Law of the Council of Europe(Strasbourg). Mario Rocca is Full Professor of Condensed Matter Physics at Università degli Studi diGenova and associated member of the IMEM CNR Institute. Henrik Rudolph (Frederiksberg,Denmark1958) received aBa inChemistry and aMSc inPhysicsfromtheUniversityofCopenhagenandsubsequentlyobtainedaPhDfromCaliforniaInstituteofTechnology(USA). In1990he joinedUtrechtUniversity(theNetherlands)asanassociateprofessorofphysicsandin2001hebecamefullprofessorinatomicandmolecularphysics.Since2012heisemployedbytheMinistryofDefense(NL).Heisalsoeditor-in-ChiefofthescientificjournalAppliedSurfaceScience(Elsevier).Thisisthelargestregularjournalinthefieldofsurfacescience(impactfactor3.387for2016).Heisastrongadvocatefortheparticipationofscientistinthepublicdebate.Especiallyinthisdayandage,wherescientificfindingsandscientistingeneralarenotjustbeingignoredbutoftenridiculed.Scientistsmustbe willing to engage in a dialogue with the policy makers and the general public, whileexplaining their findings in layman’s terms. If this dialogue goes beyond the boundaries oftheirformaltraining,theyshouldnotbeafraidtopartakeinthedialogue.However,onehastoclearlystatethedifferencebetweenscientificresults,interpretationsoftheseandpersonalopinions.

DanieleSantiisGeneralSecretaryof"Senzatomica"acampaignaddressedtoallpeoplewiththe aim of raising public awareness about the nuclear threat, rejecting the idea of securitybaseduponnuclearweaponsand claiming the rightof aworld free fromnuclearweapons.Form2011theexhibitionshavebeenheld in69citiesaroundItalywith320.000visitorsof120.000students.Hundredsofsideeventshavebeenorganisedaswell.

Carlo Schaerf isprofessorofPhysicsattheUniversityofRome"TorVergata"(ret.).Hehasdone experimental work in the field of Hadron Physics mostly with polarized gamma-raybeams and sometimes polarized targets. He is the founder and President of InternationalSchool on Disarmament and Research on Conflicts (ISODARCO). He is the author of manyscientificpapersonPhoto-HadronicInteractionsandeditorofseveralbooksonPhoto-nuclearReactionsandInternationalSecurity.

Ambassador Carlo Trezza concluded in 2015 his mandate as Chairman of the MissileTechnology Control Regime (MTCR). In 2010 the UN Secretary General appointed him as

ChairmanofhisAdvisoryBoardforDisarmamentMatters. HeservedasDiplomaticAdvisortotheItalianMinisterofDefenceandCo-DirectoroftheIstituteforHighDefenseStudies.In2003 he chaired the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. Prior to becoming Italy’sPermanentRepresentative forDisarmament inGeneva,heservedasAmbassadorof Italy totheRepublicofKorea.HewasaCoordinatorforSecurityandDisarmamentandHeadoftheOffice of the Secretary General at theMinistry of Foreign Affairs. As a career diplomat heserved in Zambia, Israel, Germany, Spain and in Washington DC. He is currently SeniorAdviserforDisarmamentandNonProliferationoftheItalianInstituteofInternationalAffairs(IAI)inRome

Francesco Vignarca for over fifteen years has operated in the field of peace anddisarmament,andsince2004isNationalcoordinatorforReteItalianaperilDisarmo.Inthiscontexthehasbeendealingwiththeissuesofmilitaryexpenses,privatedefencecompanies,armamentstradecontrol,industrialreconversion,tonamebutafew,andhehasresearchandcoordinations duties in all the mobilizations and campaigns started by italian peacemovement on the topics above. Inside this framework he has great experience advocatingtheItalianGovernmentandParliament(dealingwithallnationalpoliticalgroups)aswellaswith EU institutions; he works closely with all the international networks for peace anddisarmamentlinkedwithReteItalianaperilDisarmo.Duringthelasttenyearshepromotedand coordinated the italian branch of international campaigns such as Control Arms, StopKillerRobots,InternationalCampaignAgainstNuclearWeapons,GlobalCampaignonMilitarySpending,theEuropeanForumonArmedDronesandsince2014inthenationalcoordinationgroupforthecampaign"Un‟altradifesaèpossibile"aimingat thecreationandinstitutionalrecognitionofanonviolentandnonarmedCivilianDefence.LastJuly,asrepresentativeoftheinternational civl society, he was present at the second session of negotiations for the"Nuclear Ban Treaty" at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Vignarca owns aUniversity Degree in Astro-Physics and aMaster Degree in the Sociological field related tohumanandsocialdevelopment.Isauthorofmanybookregardingarmstradeandproduction,militaryspending,peaceandnonviolenceissuesandtheprivatizationofwar.
