The Baptism of Jesus13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14John would have

prevented him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?15 But Jesus

answered him, Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then heconsented. 16And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, andbehold, the heavens were opened to him,[a]and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a doveand coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, This is my belovedSon,[b]with whom I am well pleased.

Immediately after His baptism, Jesus went into the

desert. (Mt.4:1-4) While Jesus was in the desert, he was tempted by the

devil, promising him wealth and power.

It was Christ who, in answer to Daniel's prayer as to theexpiration of the "Seventy Years of Captivity, " sent theAngel Gabriel, and revealed to Daniel the exact date ofHis (Christ's) death on the Cross, in the Vision of the"SEVENTY WEEKS." Dan. 9:1-3. From all thesereferences we see how active Christ was from Creationuntil His Incarnation in supervising the affairs of men, particularly those of His own chosen people Israel.
