we want to blow minds.

The task is not a matter of bland piety, telling people how to behave. It’s easy to fall back on late- capitalist tropes

of ‘sexy’ versus ‘educational’, but the stakes are more interesting than that.

The most exciting outcome is to build on a dazzling evolution which has occurred since the rise of the popular internet: the rise of reputation and cooperation in the wake of the logic of self- interest as a governing order. The seismic political shifts

happening in the city and across the world demonstrate a groundswell of public exchange and desire to participate in

civic life.

This is a classical architectural imperative: to elevate and enlarge the spirit while bringing people together. The highest form of success we could achieve is to encourage

people in their path as human beings.

Page 11: Public Installation Proposal

site plan The cloud center is a physical

manifestation of City Atlas-recording and demonstrating ideas about the future of New

York City, the US and the world. One can hear a layman’s opinion, participate in an interview, or have a chat with a fellow environmental enthusiast in Paris or Taiwan. The cloud is a multi-functional space,

it can be used and occupied by anyone that wants to stop

in for lunch, nap, show up for a scheduled lecture or to download

the City Atlas App.

concept ii: officepark

“The idea of the park is a concept that has come to the end of its useful life. The park is an island of intelligence in a sea of stupidity.

The outmoded idea of a “park” cannot help but reinforce a fundamental problem that has inflicted untold damage—the separation of humans

and the natural world.”-Bruce Mau, Megopolis

MULTI USEINTERACTIVE SPACE

The concept of the OfficePark is very simple: you come to plug into the network and generate enough

electricity for the time you are there.

Each work cube has spaces for 20 people on their laptops.

The intent is to provide a functioning example of a raw,

communal working environment where users are sustaining their own energy demands via bike-

powered stations.

When using the internet, the City Atlas site could be the home page.
