Principal’s Report• Thank You:
– The staff appreciates the generous teacher stipends and grade level support that will be used to support student programs.
– First Cultural Arts assembly was a huge success! Thank you to new chairs Jill Bennett and Jo Sorrell– Thanks to Baskin Robbins for hosting Spirit Night on September 30. The event raised $850. We appreciate the
business partner and community support! This money will be saved in the technology donations account for future instructional technology purchases.
• Updates:– 896 Students as of October 2.– All staff has been reminded of deadline to submit reimbursement requests for funds spent in classrooms and for
grade levels– Teams are pleased to be able to schedule grade level focused Cultural Arts presentations tied to curriculum– Great participation in National Walk/Bike to school day on October 7. – Advanced Academic Program information night was held on October 7. Jane Wheeler, AART will post information and
is the main point of contact for questions.– Book Fair is coming the week of October 19.– Will continue to provide community with updates regarding neighborhood safety concerns

second, and approvedOpen Committee Chairs – FLEX our Foreign Language program is in
need of a Chair to begin setting up classes for winterVolunteer Opportunities – Many opportunities to get involved in
the classroom and school. Look in Wolf News and emails from Room Parents.
Walk/Bike to School Day – Successful day with many kids and families participating. New bike racks were full. Police were on
bikes to help keep students safe.Membership and PTA Programs – Thank you !

• Expense Notes: – Garden Revitalization hardscape project has been completed and was $1,000 under budget.
VP - Programs• Chess Club: Starting this week with close to 70 students • Community Outreach: Beginning in October look for signup through the classroom rep.• Cultural Arts: First school wide assembly took place. One more scheduled and still
working grade level assemblies• FLEX: Open Chair Position• Food Rescue: Food Rescue Committee has a sign up

• Junior Great Books: we will begin to move forward training the volunteers as well as organizing the classes and materials. We are hoping to be able to begin the student groups at the beginning of October!
• Odyssey of the Mind: Flyers went out in the Wolf News this week. The PTA website has been updated with the 2015-2016 Odyssey of the Mind information with a link to register.
VP - Programs• Reflections: Chairs plan to attend Reflection chairperson meeting in Falls Church on
September 15. We will have more information then regarding any changes• Robotics: Oak Hill PTA robotics is off to a good start with 12 teams this year and all are
preparing for the tournament season. Since the end of school last year we have provided EV3 Robots to our new teams and the new 2015 Field Set up kits for all the teams. Our teams have started to equip their members with team t-shirts (provided by PTA).
• Science Olympiad• SEA Club• Shop and Support Programs: Box Top competition has begun and Amazon/Target will be
in the Wolf News mid Nov.• Spirit Logo Items/Spirit wear: Spirit Wear online store has been launched and can be

• Summer Book Exchange: Looking at large yard sales throughout the year to buy books for the older students. She will begin working on the book exchange itself in the beginning of May.

Oak Hill Staff, students and their families are invited to enjoy a fun fall afternoon of giant inflatables, games of skill and chance, prizes, crafts, food, apple pie, face painting and more!
