Dear Brothers,Psi Upsilon is a brotherhood for life with valuable relationships that may form early but grow overtime and form us as individuals, professionals and life-long learners. The core focus of the Foundationremains highly relevant today as always – to support the educational programs provided to thebrotherhood by Psi Upsilon. The ways and topics in which we do that in 2019 may be slightly differentthan previous decades but the objective and tenants of our programs are the same.

We believe in the strength of developing leaders both through experiential and cohort training in ourchapters and through the International Office. Archons’ Academy and the Leadership Institute yearover year deliver invaluable opportunities to address current topics relevant across our diversenetwork but always bring us back to the values we hold true.

Graduate Studies scholarships. This ismade possible through generous new support so that we can maintain the existing program.

We are proud to honor the legacy of Henry Poor, Gamma ‘39 (Amherst) through a Scholarship Fund inhis name. The endowment of that fund has grown significantly as a result of the efforts and generosityof Henry's son Tom Poor, Gamma ‘65 (Amherst). Tom's matching gift challenges permitted the fund togrow to the point where multiple grants have been made to brothers who demonstrate financial needand an outstanding commitment to Psi Upsilon values at the chapter, on campus and in thecommunity.

Led by Annual Fund committee chairman, Brad Corner, Omicron ‘72 (Illinois), alumni from everychapter gave generously to provide operating funds for the Foundation and Fraternity. Annual Fundgifts increased by 7% over last year. Many brothers give every year, some consecutively more than 40years!

While a volunteer lead organization, the Foundation is only as good as the people we rely on to leadour programs and engage with members throughout the country. Increased demand amongst the 2

Scholarship Award Winners, Chicago Convention 2019

With your generosity, we continue tocelebrate the outstanding work andachievements of the fine men and womenof Psi Upsilon through awardingscholarships. This year we are so pleasedto award 18 scholarships across 14chapters. The Scholarship Committeethoughtfully devotes many hoursreviewing applications of candidates, allof whom made significant contributionsto Psi Upsilon and their communities. This year we are thrilled to announcethe expansion of that program into

The Zeta chapter at Dartmouth, continues to honor the memoriesof Bob ‘39 and Evelyn ‘88H Kaiser through the Kaiser EducationalFund. Textbook grants are made to undergraduates from a fundsupported by Zeta alumni. (Addendum – Kaiser Fund Donors.)

I want to express my gratitude for your support of the Foundationand our Fraternity. Each gift, of any amount helps to strengthenthe programs and bonds we know so well.

brotherhood to build more robust networking offerings and enhance the programs to remain relevantto the greatest number of brothers has inspired the Foundation to hire a Director of MemberEngagement. A unique position that will be focused on programs and involvement will begin in early2020 and the results will be a dramatic new line-up of opportunities to be a part of the brotherhood innew and meaningful ways. I am thrilled that Johnathan Chaffin, Gamma Tau ‘00 (Georgia Tech) willbe joining the staff in this position!

The Foundation board of directors enjoys a close working relationship with the Executive Council ledby Evan Terry, Epsilon Phi ‘92 (McGill) and the Fraternity’s Executive Director Thomas Fox, Omicron‘00 (Illinois). This collegial working relationship, together with the significant financial contributionsmade by Executive Council members, makes Psi Upsilon better for all.

On behalf of the board of directors and all the brothers of Psi Upsilon thank you for all your support, energy and perspective you have shared. We are so fortunate to be stewarding this unique andwonderful organization forward.

Yours in the bonds,

Alexander C. Senchak, Eta ‘06 (Lehigh) President and Chairman

The Psi Upsilon executive boards have been focused on developing meaningful programs to supportthe current needs of all brothers of the fraternity. This year the Foundation awarded $35,000 inmerit and need-based scholarships to 18 undergraduate brothers in May 2019. This year saw theintroduction of the Graduate Studies Scholarship, as well as a focus on the networking programswith events in New York, Chicago, Connecticut, Boston, Philadelphia and more planned for 2020.

The Foundation’s new Speaker Series, launching in early 2020, ispart of a broad Foundation initiative to convene Psi Upsilonbrothers in meaningful ways throughout their life. The SpeakerSeries leverages our greatest asset – diverse talents of our graduates– and will convene a variety of business leaders from various

industries to share their perspective and to network with other brothers. These increased efforts areto engage, inspire and inform brothers and to reinforce the theme that “Psi U is for Life.” Psi Upsilonprograms such the Archons’ Academy, a retreat for chapter presidents to learn valuable skills fortheir upcoming terms of office; the Leadership Institute, a day of educational programmingincorporated into Psi Upsilon’s annualConvention for undergraduate and alumnidelegates; and the Psi Upsilon FoundationScholarship program, all rely upon a robustAnnual Fund of unrestricted gifts each yearin order to continue to build the leaders oftomorrow.

Program Performance

January 11-13 saw brothers from 27 chapters and 1colony gather in Indianapolis, IN for the 2019 Archons’Academy. Over the course of the weekend, Psi Upsilonstaff prepared these undergraduate leaders to addressthe challenges they will face over the upcoming year;from risk management to group motivation This hands-on program has a profound impact on today’s studentleaders as they navigate an ever-changing college campusenvironment. Teaching them to be proactive andinnovative within their chapter is truly preparing themfor the road ahead in their chapters and careers. TheArchons’ Academy is organized by the Fraternity and isfree for chapter presidents to attend thanks to thesupport of the Psi Upsilon Foundation and its loyaldonors. This is an excellent example of the Fraternity andFoundation collaborating to provide leadershipdevelopment for tomorrow’s leaders; further playing animportant role in the world around us.

He is a marketing and communications professional with deep roots in story-telling, community-building, communications, branding, and online and social media marketing channels. He comes to theFoundation after 15+ years as an online and e-content designer for The Home Depot andAutotrader.com. He has served Psi U in various capacities including as a staff intern, president andboard member of the Psi Upsilon Society of Georgia, designing coats of arms for several chapters, andserving as the Fraternity Heraldry Chairman. Jonathan lives in Atlanta with his wife and daughter.

Jonathan deeply believes that Psi U exists to support its members from the beginning of their life'sjourney to the end. He is perpetually excited by new ways members can connect, support each other, and strive to strengthen our bonds. He is enthusiastic about creating new memories and sharedidentity and helping other brothers do the same. 5

Introducing Our NewDirector of Member Engagement

We’re excited to welcome Jonathan M. Chaffin, to the Foundation staff. Jonathan joined Psi Upsilon in 1998 at Georgia Tech.

Such support is also bringing access to the Psi Upsilon archives to allby beginning the Digitization program. The International Office inIndianapolis, IN has an archives collection that includes manyhistorically significant objects to the Fraternity. These objects tell ourstory and are of importance to all our members. In their physical formalone, these materials are currently of limited availability to brothersunless they visit the International Office. In addition, theirpreservation is a concern with some items dating back over severaldecades, even centuries. Some of the items to be recorded are a part ofthe Psi Upsilon past. Being the fifth oldest fraternity in the UnitedStates and the first fraternity to do many things including hosting aconvention, printing a magazine, publishing a membership catalog, recording a history and creating a songbook. Such impact is onlypossible because of faithful and generous donors, like you!

Pictured: one of the two original constitution copies on display in the office. The first copy, lost formany years, was recovered from a rare manuscript dealer in the 1930s. The second copy, also from1834, is inscribed into the original minutes of the Theta chapter. Ensuring these important archivesare available for decades to come is important.

Giving to the Annual Fund is the most critical form of support to provide for programs and scholarships.Through one-time and recurring gifts of all amounts from across all generations, donors to the AnnualFund are the bedrock of Psi Upsilon. The giving programs, special gifts and matching gifts madethroughout the year help fund additional projects and grants that Psi Upsilon identify as priorities toattend to the needs of our brotherhood. Outreach via mail, email and social media all compliment eachother to invite all brothers to join in support of our brotherhood through a gift of any size.

*Gifts postmarked 12/31/19 received by 1/10/20

Contributions to the restricted endowment of theFoundation are something that we continue todevelop and look at multi-year pledges andbequests to continue to grow the corpus of thefunds that support our programs annually. Theboard has renewed its focus on expanding theSchoepflin Society of donors who have included theFoundation in their estate plans.
