    Network Elements

Network Elements: The objects of the Communication

    Service Provider Network within NIMS-PrOptima.

These objects are categorized into types of Network

    Elements (NEs).

Examples: RNC, NodeB, etc. Members:A specific realization of any object , e.g.

object instance, for each NE type of the

    Communication Service Provider Network.

    Examples: RNC-1, RNC-2, RNC130, etc.

NEs and the types of NEs are identified by icons andaccessible from the Network Elements tab in the

    palette.

Time limits are determined by the current global

    context setting.

Selection Time contain members that correspond to

a defined, non-repeated, period of time.

Example: Day, 14 Jan 07, etc. Dispatching Time members have no absolute

reference, and the members corresponds to a

    repeatable, periodic time slot.

Example: Day of Week, Quarter Hour of Week

Monday, etc. Selection and Dispatching Time and their members

    Understanding Data Importation

Data is imported at the time

    granularity specified within the VTI

    for each counter.

In this example the counter data is

    imported at Quarter-Hour

    granularity.

    When an hour of Quarter-Hour

data has been imported it is

aggregated and stored at the hour

    level as well.

When a days worth of Hourly data

has been imported it is aggregatedand stored at the Day level as well

All counter data is stored on the

    NIMS-PrOptimaTM server in a

    multi-dimensional data storage

    architecture also called flat files

    Aggregations

Aggregations combine the data from one granularity to another

An RNC-level report is computed using FDDCell-level data

An Hourly counter is computed at the Day level

There are several methods of combining the data (sum, average, max, min, etc.) Network Object Model
