We greet you with Thanksgiving that our project, Provision for Karamoja, has continued to bring a hope 

and a future to the Karamojong people of NE Uganda.  

 In a land of spiritual darkness we work with Karamojong Christian Development Initiatives (KCDI), an 

organization of local Full Gospel Church leaders who see meeting practical needs for  

development as working in tandem with opening doors for the Gospel.  The focus of our support has 

been education for destitute children in a Christian environment, Children’s Evangelism and personal 

development programs, adult evangelism, and well drilling. 

 In Moroto our Eagle’s Nest School now has a 200+ student body which is made up of children from non‐ 

believing homes, Muslim homes, and Christian homes. We are aware that Uganda’s laws are quite 

restrictive regarding the teaching of religious beliefs in school.  Having a private school does allow every 

student to be taught of God’s Word and exposed to His provision to reconcile all to Him. It is not the 

same freedom that a private school has in the U.S. but every child receives much more of the Word than 

they would in a public school.  It is a continual struggle to remain financially viable because at least 20% 

of the students come from homes of extreme poverty and are unable to pay school fees. 

 The well that was drilled at Loodoi village November 2010 continues to provide much needed pure 

water and that gift of love has moved hearts to allow a local Pastor to preach and teach both children 

and adults in that village. It has helped to bring increased cleanliness and relief against prevalent 

dehydration. We are again seeking funds to drill another well before 2012. 

 Just as in the U.S., Pastors understand the culture and know their people yet experience difficulty and 

disappointment.  The hopeless slum environment is not easily overcome for some of the children in our 

programs. It has been painful that the Pastors found it necessary to remove some of the children from 

the program because they could not, or did not want to attend the regular weekly meetings to develop 

them in the knowledge and love of God. Even at very young ages the culture of lawlessness and drink is 

the dictator of their lives. The pastors are patient and give warning but have chosen to let some of the 

original program children go before they brought additional rebellion to other children.  They were 

replaced with children that have attended church on their own without parental involvement or hope of 

support. 

It is the hope of KCDI to build a hut on KCDI property adjacent to the Pastor’s home. This will cost about 

$1,200.  It will allow three of the most promising but vulnerable boys to move out of their current 

environment into a safe setting with oversight and guidance.  

 In the U.S. we see so many appeals for adopting dogs; it always brings to mind the desperate need for 

at least a portion of the lives of these precious children whom Jesus died for to be adopted. They are 

worthy of attention, investment, commitment, and love. We now have an Adopt a Destitute Child’s 

Education appeal; this will be an immense help for the 60 children in our programs who receive God’s 

love, teaching, and guidance and they need someone to adopt their education. Dogs are a wonderful 

part of God’s creation but Jesus gave his blood for these children. It will be this generation that brings 

great multiplication to the Kingdom. Please consider what you can give toward adopting their education. 

  

Disappointments are overshadowed by the goodness of God and how His Spirit is working. 

One of the Muslim boys that attends Eagle’s Nest School was continually attacked by demonic forces 

which tried to kill him. The boy’s Father had brought him many times to the Muslim sheiks for help and 

though required to pay inordinate sums for spiritual help, it was to no avail.  Knowing that KCDI leaders 

cared about his son, he finally brought the boy to them. Through prayer Christ led his servants to deliver 

his child at no financial cost. This man stated that he now knew who the true God was and that he must 

give thanks and praise to that God. He brought all of his five children to church to become Believers and 

felt there was no turning back. The Muslims held an official burial service for the Father, now considered 

dead to all Muslims.  

 The goodness of God again shined in September. when an Evangelist was brought into the area and the 

church served as Host. People came from all parts of Karamoja and over 500 souls made decisions for 

Christ. On Sunday 40+ persons came to church for the first time in their lives. The effort will now be 

follow‐ up contacts and discipleship. This is particularly challenging in a culture that is largely illiterate.  

 We did not travel this year but Sue has plans to return in 2012. We cover our own costs. 

 Your interest, prayers, and financial gifts have many times encouraged us and also the leaders in 

Karamoja. Jesus stretched out his hand to touch and heal many with the love and power of God. How 

does Jesus stretch out his hand today to the lost and the needy? Through his people; it is Christ in them 

bringing the reality of light and love to those in darkness. His people have continued to provide and that 

enables us to be a part of bringing hope to the hopeless with the loving touch of Christ.
