the untold sufferings of our Founder Father Bld. Basil Moreau about whom we can say that he, too, at the end of his life, found himself at the foot of the Cross. Rejected by his own community of priests and brothers, and abandoned, it then took about 50 years, after his death, for the Congregation to honour him as the founder and to venerate him. Yet, the cross and suffering were for him signs of hope. That is why he left us those promising words as a motto for us, his religious family: “The Cross, our Only Hope.”

In this Anniversary Year, we are given yet another opportunity to know our Founder Father more deeply and personally, and thus imbibe his Charism and reflect the same in spirit & fact. This important attempt could provide an opportunity for us to love our Founder and to welcome him back from the rejection meted out to him by his own Family of Holy Cross.

Church. The failure of achieving our goals comes from our lack of clear vision. We need prayer and scripture to discern what God wants from us. Once we have a clear vision like Bld. Basil Moreau, we could then move on to how that vision could be accomplished.

We have been told that Walt Disney was fired as a cartoonist from the Kansas City Star newspaper, because his editor concluded that he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” Thomas Alva Edison failed hundreds of times before he found the right filament for the electric-bulb. What led these successful and talented people to press on despite failure and rejection? They were motivated by a vision. Vision gives us an idea of what is possible. It creates a desire to grow and improve. It feeds our hopes and dreams. It establishes a purpose. Helen Keller said: The only thing worse than being blind is having sight, but no vision.

As we have completed the Decennial Celebration of our Founder's Beatification, let the vision of our Founder bear fruit in us, his children. To make this a reality, as our Founder has rightly said, our life and our work should not become an obstacle in the way of His design. Finally, I wish our Readers of Waves, in the words of St. Ignatius,

ndan early Christian writer and the 2 bishop of Antioch: Pray as if everything depends upon God, and work as if everything depends on you.

Holy Cross Celebration: Our Congregational Feast and the decennial celebration of the Beatification of the Bld. Basil Moreau were celebrated in the school with the students-teachers

thcommunity, on 8 Sept.'17 on the occasion of the Nativity of the Bld. Virgin Mary and Girl-Child Day. Fr. Kanikkai and his team of eight presented the Life & Mission of Bld. Basil Moreau and the impact of Holy Cross presence in India through a skit and power point presentation. The programme was done in the context of a cultural Extravaganza where the students wished the Holy Cross fathers, candidates from SAMS through songs and dances. Our target-group {High school students}, was able to understand the PPP and have some basic knowledge about the Founder & the Congregation of Holy Cross; they were able to see clearly the impact of the education imparted by Holy Cross Fathers in the interior villages.

Parish Feast: The Yearly Feast of St. Mary's Parish-Tuikarmaw, was celebrated on 10 Sept.'17. Prior to the Day proper, the th

whole parish-community had an intense spiritual preparation through a ten-day Novena; in which different sub-centres of the Mission took part in turn on their allotted day, organizing the same themselves. It was indeed an experience of God's blessing for them, especially those days. Depicting the life of Mother Mary,

the Novena had various themes to focus on, each day. The Masses on Novena days were presided over by Frs. Hormis John csc, Robert csc, Iswar csc, Davis csc, Blascius sdb, Bosco & Xavier {Agt. Diocese},

explaining the role of Mary in building the Mother Church. The solemn Eucharist on the Feast Day was presided over by Rev. Valerian Castelino csc. In his Homily, he stressed on the role of Mary in the very Life of Jesus and in the Church. Mary was always a faithful servant of God & a symbol of unity. On this festive day, 10 of our parish children received the Holy Communion. Rev. Abraham C csc {PP} gratefully appreciated the faithful for their active participation both in the Novena and Parish Feast. It is needless to say that the entire celebration came to an end with a community meal.

Triple-celebration: The membership of the Meghalaya Region {Holy Cross}, met together at Holy Cross

thMission - Mawkynrew, on 12 Sept.'17 for a triple-celebration: The Decennial Celebration Bld. Basil Moreau's Beatification cum Anticipated Birthday Celebration of Rev. Antony Maria Joseph csc cum the Regional Meeting. It was indeed an exclusive celebration for the confreres of the Region. All, but one, Holy Cross Confreres working in the Region were present for the occasion. The 'day' began for us at 6.30 pm with the Regional Meeting animated by Fr. Simon F csc {Coordinator - Meghalaya Region}. Then began the celebration proper: in honour of our Founder and the birthday celebrant. It was nice to see the confreres working as far as Umkiang and Mawpat being present on the occasion. Thanks to the host, and divine-blessings to the participants.

Decennial Celebration: It was a unanimous desire of the confreres in Meghalaya to celebrate the Decennial Celebration of the Beatification of our Founder Bld. Basil Moreau with our ' {the candidates at future-Holy Cross' Sumer & Holy Cross Villa}. The Sisters' candidates from Villa could not be part of the celebration due to classes and exams. However, three of the Sisters did participate in the celebration. On 13 Sept.'17 our Brookdene house th

had a festive look; and the confreres of the Region along with the candidates from our formation house-Sumer began the day with the festive activities. Solemn Eucharistic celebration, wonderful Cultural Program by our formees at Sumer, and festive meal marked the day. It was exclusively a Holy Cross event and the entire morning was festively spent for the same. It was all well done. Kudos to the host, thanks to the Almighty and greetings to the participants.

Decennial Celebration of Bld. Basil Moreau’s Beatification- Celebration gets concluded but prayers continue -

Bld. Basil Moreau was a holy man with a global vision and a concrete local realization of it. The elevation of our Founder Basil Moreau to the status of “Blessed” by the Universal Church, was a very significant event in the history of our Congregation. Ten years have gone by and it is a great joy for us to praise and thank God for this wonderful honor given to our founder. This recognition of his holiness by the Church has enlarged our visibility worldwide. Therefore it is fitting that we celebrate the decennial of the beautification of Founder.

A team was formed under the leadership of Fr. Kanikkai to make known our Founder's life & charism as it is lived by Holy Cross Sisters, Brothers and Priests in the North East. Fr. Devadoss, Fr. Sahaya Lourdu Raj and a group of 7 candidates assisted him in this venture. Frs. Lourdu and Kanikkai produced a lovely video presentation on the Founder, his men and their ministry in the North East. With the assistance of our candidates at SAMS, we had composed a hymn in honour of Bld. Basil Moreau, for the presentation. The prayer cards and flexes were prepared according to the guidelines given by the commission and the same were distributed to our centers and to the other sectors in South India as well.

September is always a very special month for us because of our Congregational feast in honour of our patroness. We began our tour on 1 Sept.'17, to all our rural

st

institutions in Tripura. We were warmly welcomed with love, with lots of preparations and excellent hospitality. It was a delightful journey to move around from centre to centre in honour of our Founder. In total, we had 13

presentations on the origin and spirituality of our Congregation, coupled with mission of Holy Cross in Northeast India. The cultural dances accompanied by the prayers for each centre through the intercession of Blessed Moreau, inspired the staff and students. A book mark was given to everyone so that this event may remain in their hands, minds and hearts even long after the event is over.

Though we had concluded our presentations on 10 Sept., th

we had another mega event on 14 Sept., at St. Andre th

Parish {Bodhjungnagar} for the faithful. The colorful procession starting from SAMS to the Parish church with singing & praying to God through Bld. Basil Moreau was very touching & meaningful. The presence of Fr. K J Abraham {2 Asst. General} and Bro. Joel csc {USA} nd

added more joy and life to the celebration. On 15 Sept., th

we had a thanksgiving Eucharist in the school campus at Agartala, followed by video presentation on Bld. Basil Moreau and his charism as it is being lived out by the Holy Cross Priests at various centers in Northeast, a short cultural program and a common meal with the friends and well wishers of Holy Cross. That brought us to the end of the decennial celebration of our founder's beatification, but our prayer for his canonization fervently continues. We hope and pray that one day the mother Church will recognize his holiness and declare him a saint.

Perfection is not attainable but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence - says Vence Lombardi. Bld. Basil Moreau says: Holy Cross is not a human work but God's very own. Let us then together sing the symphony of Bld. Basil Moreau: , Hail Holy Cross, Cross our only Hopeby chasing perfection and catching excellence in our life and ministry.

coupled with the awareness programme on “Bld. Basil Moreau and his Vision” for the children from classes V to X and the Teaching Staff of the school. As the combined celebration began, Fathers Kanikkai, Devadoss & Lourdhu, and a few candidates from SAMS enthralled the students and the teachers with prayer service, PPT and Drama on the Life and Vision of Bld. Basil Moreau.

It was indeed a wonderful presentation. Many of the students heard about the legendary hero Bld. Basil Moreau and legacy of Holy Cross for the first time {though they had been with us for quite a few years}. The student-community and the teaching staff were highly appreciative of the presentation offered by the fathers and candidates. This was followed by different cultural extravaganza and wishes for the teachers on their Special Day.
