WHAT PREVIOUS ATTENDEES ARE SAYING
“Excellent course. I have been a CDI for three years—had to learn the role independently. This is a wonderful orientation to the program—good step-by-step info! Very thankful to have been able to attend this!”
–Deborah DudleyFloyd Medical Center

“The CDI Boot Camp exceeded my expectations! [The instructor] tied all the loose ends I had questions on regarding DRGs, queries, etc. I had never felt comfortable using the DRG Expert, but after she explained each body system, I now have a much clearer understanding and will be able to use it more confidently. [The instructor] presents information very clearly and makes it very interesting!”

OVERVIEW
The documentation issues that exist with ICD-9 will continue in ICD-10. The ICD-10 for CDI Boot Camp provides strategies that can be implemented immediately to improve documentation and facilitate a smooth transition to ICD-10-CM.
ACDIS’ ICD-10 for CDI Boot Camp is the only training developed with CDI specialists—not coders—in mind. Our instructors have in-the-field CDI experience and know exactly what CDI specialists need to know about the new coding system. You will get a CDI perspective on how to:
• Evaluate, revise, and focus physician educational efforts and queries to meet documentation requirements for ICD-10-CM
• Determine the impact ICD-10-PCS will have on the organization and whether CDI specialists should query for surgical procedures
• Highlight changes from the ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines so that CDI specialists can get coders the specificity needed
• Recognize how ICD-10-CM documentation requirements will affect principal diagnosis selection, additional diagnosis reporting, and diagnosis sequencing
• Identify solutions that will maximize efficiency and limit productivity losses during and after the transition
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
• CDI specialists• CDI managers/directors• Case management directors/managers• HIM directors/coding managers• Revenue cycle directors• DRG coordinators• Physician advisors/champions• Quality improvement personnel

Integrating CDI into
Revenue Cycle
OVERVIEW
Many healthcare organizations have experienced the benefits of an established and successful CDI department. But now they’re asking: What’s next?
The answer is the Advancing CDI Boot Camp. This four-day course is ACDIS’ newest training course designed for established CDI departments and experienced CDI professionals ready for the “next level” of CDI.
As CMS moves to a “pay-for-quality” system and hospitals face shrinking profit margins, CDI specialists are being asked to expand beyond traditional MS-DRG review. The Advancing CDI Boot Camp shows you the additional ways CDI efforts can impact incremental revenue and the reported data that influences an organization’s reputation.
Walk away with ready-to-implement strategies for achieving accurate quality indicators and optimal reimbursement under a variety of CMS quality programs and an advanced understanding of how documentation and code assignment affect the revenue cycle.
You’ll leave with a complete understanding of:
• Healthcare data code sets. Discover the impact of code assignments on Medicare reimbursement in a variety of settings.
• Nontraditional opportunities. Increase the scope of your CDI department with an in-depth awareness of the outpatient prospective payment system, Hierarchical Condition Categories, and the basics of professional services.
• The relationship between quality metrics and reimbursement. Learn how diagnosis assignment may increase direct revenue through MS-DRG assignment, but negatively impact quality ratings and/or lead to penalties under CMS quality initiatives.
• Medical necessity. Ensure that a patient’s principal diagnosis is associated with a condition that supports an admission to the hospital, lessening the chance of denials.
• CMS quality programs. Learn about changes to existing CMS quality programs (e.g., inpatient quality reporting) as well as newer CMS quality initiatives (e.g., Hospital Readmission Reduction Program, Hospital Acquired Conditions Reduction Program, Hospital Value Based Purchasing) where poor performance can result in financial penalties.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
• CDI specialists• CDI/HIM managers• CDI/UR physician advisors• Compliance managers
• Quality managers• Revenue cycle management• Case management

WHAT PREVIOUS ATTENDEES ARE SAYING
“The Advanced boot camp was excellent. The 4 days were packed, we covered every page of the manuals (had to be about 1200). Both instructors talked non-stop and did not waste a minute. I also enjoyed the fact that the people who attended were much like myself and needed more than a deeper dive into clinical issues. The conversations with the other attendees were a learning experience too. All in all, a great seminar, great learning environment, a no-nonsense-get it done experience! Loved it! It is so vital to what the managers of programs need to further expand their knowledge and assistance to move the organization forward.”

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND• Prevent denials and protect
profit margins by learning how to use Comprehensive Error Rate Testing, OIG Work Plans, and PEPPER data to identify organizational vulnerabilities
• Support inpatient admissions with an understanding of the relationship between medical necessity and MS-DRG assignment and how the 2-midnight rule impacts principal diagnosis selection
• Improve quality metrics by implementing compliant documentation strategies that do not compromise data integrity
• Unify the various parts of the revenue cycle under one mission and alleviate conflicts that lead to confusion and frustration among the medical staff
• Reconcile discrepancies between coded and surveillance data by collaborating with quality and infection control
• Align and strengthen the relationship between clinical documentation and key revenue cycle partners, such as utilization review, quality, case management, and coding, as coded data is increasingly used to represent hospital quality
