Lower edge of fins on oil filled transformer corroded and starting to leak. Problem caused by sheep rubbing against fins, damaging paint system.

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-1. Pre-formed doubler plates were bonded over the corroded areas after manual surface preparation

Leaking flanges created an environmental hazard and the transformer could not be drained for repair.

The application was carried out using a modified Belzona Know-How System Leaflet GSS-4, temporarily stopping the leak with Belzona1831 before encapsulating the flange with a Belzona 2000 series elastomer.

Following removal of the failed system by grit blasting, a Belzona 1000 series system was used to seal the flange joint.

Leak detection proved success of the repair and resulted in a further 515 flanges being sealed.
