Message From Joey Yap

Dear Friends,

Long before I began performing in-depth study and research of Feng Shui, Chinese Astrology (BaZi) had me completely captivated. The idea of being able to chart ones luck cycle and subsequently, plan ones life endeavours and goals accordingly, will continue to fascinate and remain a subject that I hold close to my heart. Subsequently, the art of Date Selection which forms the groundwork that provides the support for BaZi and Feng Shui practice became more of an intriguing interest.

My personal experience in Feng Shui consulting, and my knowledge of what clients, students, and practitioners need, lead me to come up with a Tong Shu that includes a number of functional sections that would make for quick and accurate reference.

The idea for this Edition came about when my students requested a comprehensive Tong Shu that compiled all the relevant information into one book. Thats because it can be a cumbersome and time-consuming process to rifle through various stacks of reference books to find a specific piece of information.

As such, I decided it was time to create the Professional Edition Tong Shu one that adds in MORE relevant information. Its made simple and easy for practitioners to cater to your clients in a reliable and speedy manner, eliminating time-consuming research from. This is designed to save your time.

Annual Star Forecast

Southeast

3 Jade

This sector should be avoided for the most part, where possible, throughout the year, as the #3 Jade Star settles in here. This Star carries negative influences that will result in heated arguments and constant disagreements. Such tensions would make it difficult for anyone to see matters eye-to-eye. The worst case scenario would be that these conflicts will eventually lead to lawsuits and legal complications. If this sector could not be avoided, the negative effects can be slightly lessened with the placement of an oil lamp or bright red items in this sector throughout the year.

West

6 White

This year, the #6 White Star brings great benefits to those using this sector. At work, all the efforts you put in will finally receive the recognition it deserved. Therefore, career progression is expected, with a promotion and an increased of salary in the cards. If your office has a West entrance, using this often will enhance your networking capability and influence at work. Although this Star generally bring good effects, if it is activated by negative forms, its energies may likely turn malicious. This aggravation will cause abrupt changes at the workplace as well as possible health complications related to the kidneys or legs.

Southwest

1 White

People involved in studying philosophy, writing, or any academic pursuits and research would benefit more from using the Southwest sector this year, where the #1 White Star resides. This Star can also boost the success potential for career and wealth related pursuits, which could lead to possible travel opportunities for this purpose. The positive influences of this Star can also bestow good reputation and elevate ones social status. In terms of relationship, couples looking to tie the knot or start a family will experience happiness and prosperity using this sector. The downside of this Star is that it can also bring about depression and emotional instability.

North

9 Purple

This is the secondary Wealth sector of the year, an ideal area to use for enhancing ones income, especially for commencing a permanent job or long-term endeavours. Using the Main Door in this sector of your home or office will help wealth activities like investment or work that centres on the limelight or recognition to have a more positive outcome. It will also lead to promotions, new prospects and general happy events. Couples considering marriage or starting a family will also benefit from the good energies of this sector.

Northwest

5 Yellow

Avoid this area of your property at all cost if possible, as this is the most dangerous sector of the year. Refrain from undertaking any major activities in this sector such as renovation or ground breaking works. Otherwise, when this sector is activated, it could lead to potential mishaps, calamity and injuries. It is best advised to keep this sector quiet and inactive. If this area is unavoidable, place metal objects made of copper, brass or iron here to neutralize the negative influences of this #5 Yellow Star.

East

2 Black

This is the Illness sector of the year, where the #2 Black Star resides. It carries a malevolent force that wreaks havoc on the occupants who uses this sector of the property. If activated, it brings a series of persistent sickness and health problems. Pregnant women need to avoid this sector the most as its effects could jeopardize their wellbeing. If avoiding this sector is unfeasible, the placement of metal items made of brass, copper, bronze or pewter in this area can minimize its negative influences. On the bright side, this Star also brings upon positive outcomes for your real estate or property investments.

Northeast

7 Red

Expect volatile feelings and emotional turbulence to arise more frequently for the occupants this year if the Northeast sector of the property is activated or used. The #7 Red Star lands in this sector, causing much grievances on several key aspects of life. People with existing health issues may face possible surgery or hospitalisation. Couples with a bedroom in this sector will be wrought with constant conflicts and disagreements. A house or office with a Main Door in this sector would risk the potential of burglary or theft, so extra precautions must be taken this year. On the career front, unhealthy competition and office politics could mar your work life and progression.

South

8 White

This is the Wealth sector of the year. Main Doors of homes and offices located in this sector will bring good financial returns from investments, business or work. It also increases the potential for recognition and career progression. Even if there is no Main Door in this sector of your property, you can still use this sector often to activate its positive energies. Placing a Yang-natured item such as fans, clocks and televisions can also attract the auspicious Qi here.

A. Todays Four Pillars This shows the BaZi (Eight Characters) or Four

Pillars of the day, including the Xuan Kong Da Gua Hexagrams. The Hour Pillar will change according to the actual hour of that day. As each day begins at the Rat Hour, the Four Pillars of the day is plotted based on the Rat Hour.

B. Combining & Clashing Pillars This is the one Jia Zi pillar that fully combines with

the Day Pillars Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch. Its corresponding Luo Pan direction is stated below. Beside it are the two pillars that fully clash with the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch of the Day. The Age stated below refer to a persons Year of Birth.

C. Xuan Kong Da Gua The first column indicates the Xuan Kong Da Gua

(XKDG) Hexagram that is the He Tu combination with the Day Hexagram. This is in reference to Xuan Kong Element (top digit) as well as the Period Star number (bottom digit). The Luo Pan direction of that Hexagram is stated below the Hexagram. Similarly, the following column indicates the Combination of 10 between the XK Element and Period Star of the Day. The corresponding direction is stated below.

D. Suit and Avoid This shows a list of suitable and unsuitable activities

for the day. Red indicates the favourable activities for the day, while the ones marked black indicate the activities that should be avoided.

E. Day Stars

The auspicious and inauspicious Stars for the Day are listed here. The auspicious Stars are marked in red; those in black are the inauspicious Day Stars. Different practitioners place different emphasis on certain Stars.

F. Monthly Auxiliary Stars

The 24 Mountains location for the various Monthly Auxiliary Stars are shown here. These are also known as Shen Sha or Gods & Killings Stars.

G. Auspicious Hour Forecast

The table shows the auspicious and inauspicious hours of the day according to traditional Tong Shu calculations. This Forecast also includes the Xuan Kong Da Gua Hourly Stars. The ones marked in red indicate auspicious stars, while black indicates inauspicious stars. Each animal governs 2 hours. Use the local time at your present location.

H. Daily Horoscope Forecast

The diagram gives a very general forecast for the day for each Animal sign.

I. Monthly and Daily Flying Stars Chart

This shows the Monthly Flying Stars and Daily Flying Stars respectively, according to the Eight Directions. It also provides the Day Breaker, Day Peach Blossom, and Day Robbery Sha Stars.

J. Special Day Information

Occasionally, there are certain dates considered to be special and/or rare in the study of Date Selection because they possess certain attributes. These would be listed here.

K. Daily Directions and Day Breaker

This shows the Conflict, Happiness, Wealth, and Five Ghost Directions for the day, and the Animal Sign Day Breaker.

L. Na Yin

Na Yin refers to the established elemental value of the pillar. This is a particular value is used by certain schools of BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) to forecast events and occurrences.

M. 28 Constellations

The 28 Constellations refer to the particular group of stars whose positions are relatively fixed in the heavens, in relation to each other. This will show you which one of the 28 Constellations Star is in place for the day.

N. Yellow and Black Belt

This shows the auspicious or inauspicious Star based on the Yellow and Black Belt paths.

o. JY Dong Gong Rating

This is an easy-to-use rating system for quick reference, calculated by Joey Yap. Simply refer to the rating to determine the overall auspiciousness (or inauspiciousness) of the Jia Zi day.

P. Day Officer

This shows the 12 Day Officer for the Day. Each of the 12 Day Officers, or governing body of Qi, has a use and function that will match a specific activity or endeavour.
